The base salary for this position is depenent upon experience and location, ranging from $125,000 to $157,000
Job Summary:
The Manager – Compensation reports to the Director of Compensation and is the position is based in or near our Orange, CT headquarters. The Manager will be responsible for leading, developing, and overseeing a team of compensation professionals.
Major Roles & Responsibilities
This is a “hands-on” leadership role with operational responsibilities and involvement in a wide variety of activities, including:
- Provide partnership and inputs to our talent strategy, building a compensation approach that helps us attract, develop, engage, and retain a highly skilled and diverse workforce
- Cultivate effective relationships with P&O business partners, talent acquisition, and people leaders, understanding the challenges and opportunities of our complex and growing business
- Support team members in growing individual skills, knowledge, and interests, and in developing their careers
- Support and oversee day-to-day compensation activities such as job evaluations, pay recommendations, promotions, communication with employees and managers, market pricing, data maintenance and corrections, salary surveys, retention and recognition payments, and similar
- Support and oversee activities related to operating in a regulated environment, such as rate cases, compliance requirements, audit responses and regulatory filings
- Support the administration of annual programs in the compensation cycle for both union and non-union employees, such as merit increases, incentive pay, and pay equity studies
- Deliver training and promote awareness and education to employees and managers on topics ranging from how to use compensation platforms to how to interpret compensation programs to how to have pay discussions
- Partner with a variety of Total Rewards vendors to administer effective compensation programs
- Drive continuous improvement and optimization of compensation programs, policies, and practices
About You:
The ideal candidate for this role enjoys variety – from engaging in different activities and discussions each day to supporting a variety of functions, job levels, and personalities. Project management skills, in particular the ability to drive activities to completion in the face of competing priorities, is also important. Lastly, this is a management role, so a passion for understanding and developing others and for building strong and trusting relationships is key!
Education & Experience Required:
- Bachelors degree and 8+ years of experience in a relevant role or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong analytical skills – the ability to turn information into insights and insights into action
- Comprehensive understanding of relevant IRS, DOL, SEC, FLSA and similar laws and regulations
- Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification preferred
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, advanced formulas, and similar)
- Experience using enterprise-level people information platforms (Workday, SAP and similar)
