The Role
Flywheel is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager, Commercial Contracts, to lead and enhance our Commercial Contracting team. This role involves overseeing day-to-day contract operations, managing approvals, and ensuring decisions are made in alignment with a comprehensive playbook and pre-defined guidelines. You will play a key leadership role, guiding a team of contracts specialists and fostering collaboration across departments.
The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and people leader who excels in dynamic environments, drives team performance, and can adapt processes as needed in response to organizational changes such as acquisitions and reorganizations.
What You Will Do:
- Oversee the drafting, review, and approval of key agreements, such as Statements of Work (SOWs) and Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), ensuring accuracy, compliance with company policies, and alignment with established guidelines.
- Support the development and implementation of standardized contract language and guidelines to streamline the sales process while maintaining compliance.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of contracts specialists to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Empower team members to make informed decisions within pre-defined parameters, while providing support for escalated issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Legal, Client Services, and Finance, to ensure efficient contract operations and clear communication.
- Serve as a key point of contact for senior stakeholders to resolve contract-related challenges and ensure contracts meet company policies, risk standards, and legal requirements.
- Liaise with internal and external parties on contract development, negotiations, and necessary revisions, ensuring all documentation is consistently maintained and aligned with commercial contract standards.
- Manage global contract requirements for multinational clients, ensuring documentation is accurate and reliable.
Who You Are:
- You have proven experience (ideally 5+ years) in commercial contracts management, with a focus on drafting SOWs, reviewing NDAs, and managing teams.
- You have proven people management experience, including managing and developing high-performing teams
- You are proficient with contract management systems/tools and have experience automating and managing contract creation via CLMs
- You have strong knowledge of US business law
- You have experience with international contract management
- You are proficient with MS Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint, as well as Google productivity tools
- You have experience in Salesforce
- You have the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
- You possess outstanding communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- A Contract Manager (e.g. CPCM, CCM) or Paralegal certification or J.D. degree would be considered an asset
- Familiarity with eCommerce, SaaS, or a related industry would be considered an asset

Salary Range
$100,000—$120,000 USD

The Interview Process:
Every role starts the same, an introductory call with someone from our Talent Acquisition team. We will be looking for company and values-fit as well as your professional experience; there may be some technical role-specific questions during this call.
Every role is different after the initial call, but you can expect to meet several people from the team 1:1 and there might be further skill assessments in the form of a Take Home Assignment/Case Study Presentation or Pair Programming/Live Coding exercise depending on the role. In your initial call, we will walk you through exactly what to expect the process to be.
