Compensation Pay Range:
$119,200.00 - $178,800.00
The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location. Additional compensation includes annual, quarterly performance, or premiums may be paid in amounts ranging per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.
Principal System Engineer
A Principal System Engineer is a seasoned, technical, leader who possesses an advanced understanding of their discipline. This position is responsible for researching, creating budgets, overseeing projects, delegating work, and acting as mentors. The Principal Engineer guides other team members to ensure completion of projects on time and within budget, bringing high quality projects to fruition. This position is also responsible for developing teams and engineers within the organization, setting project deadlines and improving engineering processes and technologies
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Coordinates with Architects, other departments, and stakeholders to lead and manage technical projects from conception to completion.
- Support a hybrid cloud environment on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, and on-prem
- Provide technical leadership in the design and implementation of cloud FinOps
- Design, implement, and maintain our CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and deployment strategies
- Utilize infrastructure as code (IaC) to implement and manage hybrid cloud infrastructure
- Design and implement provisioning, configuration management, and orchestration solutions utilizing Ansible, FluxCD, Terraform and other IaC technologies
- Develops and provides technical standards and guidance to design and create a dependable, scalable, and maintainable infrastructure.
- Ensures that all projects are of high quality and that team members follow established standards.
- Stays current with new and emerging system standards and technology in general as it relates to the needs of the company.
- Recommends new technologies to help improve efficiency.
- Supports and facilitates in maintenance and upgrades of existing software.
- Participates in risk assessments and mitigating activities.
- Participates in the development of individual contributor goals within department.
- Manage tasks and resources while utilizing modern project management principles.
- Ability to mentor and train other engineers by distilling complex technical designs into step by step instructions.
- Looks for opportunities to innovate across teams with a willingness to experiment and to confront problems of varying degrees of complexity and scope
- Guides discussions to remove blockers and encourage collaboration amongst teams.
- Monitor and assess the performance of the engineering team.
- Works with teams to plan, prioritize, and complete project assignments.
- Assists with analyzing and troubleshooting application and system issues.
- Participates in developing technical solutions which support architectural changes that solve performance and stability issues
