Manager – Climate Analysis & Policy, International Department

  • Play a key role in providing advice on implications of climate change and the energy transition for the setting of monetary policy and stability of the financial system
  • Be part of an innovative cross departmental team, drawing on expertise from across the organisation to address this cross cutting issue
  • Work in a collaborative and dynamic environment that allows flexible working arrangements and opportunities to grow

About the team
The Climate Analysis & Policy team is working together to understand the implications of climate change and the energy transition for the Australian economy and financial system. This includes understanding how physical climate change and the energy transition will affect the structure and operation of the economy and the implications for monetary policy, considering how physical and transition risks translate into financial stability risks and examining the climate-related financial risks arising from the Bank’s financial market operations.
This new and innovative team operates in a ‘hub and spoke’ model. It brings together staff working part-time on climate issues relevant to their individual departments and teams, coordinated and supported by a small ‘hub’ of climate specialists in the International Department.
About the role

The role is in the Climate Analysis & Policy team hub, a section that sits in the International Department, but is a ‘community’ resource for the policy departments and the Bank more broadly. As part of the CAP hub, you will lead and undertake analysis and provide advice on how climate change and the energy transition might affect the economy and the financial system, and what this means for the RBA’s monetary policy and financial stability roles. You will use your technical expertise to lead and contribute to analytical work produced within the team and in collaboration with other teams across the Bank. You will be responsible for building and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

About you

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have experience in the monitoring and analysis of economic and or financial market developments; experience in applying these skills to climate change or energy transition-related topics is desirable.
  • Be able to work collaboratively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to contribute to the Bank’s strategic goals.
  • Have experience leading, guiding and developing individuals to effectively achieve outcomes and be able to contribute to the broader strategic direction and leadership of the team
