A Manager within our Disputes, Claims, and Investigations group will have consulting assignments in a variety of industries, gaining significant client exposure. Assignments primarily consist of overseeing the completion of various types of economic damages calculations and/or related financial analyses in both settlement and litigation contexts. A significant portion of the work focuses on disputes involving large insurance coverage issues including property damage, business interruption, product/general liability, D&O, cyber and other coverage disputes. Assignments may also include fraud and forensic matters or investigations, economic damages in complex commercial litigation, and other types of business disputes. Managers are assigned to project teams, working under the direction of engagement leaders and directing Analysts and/or Associates. 

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Lead or co-lead the day-to-day execution of engagements, with primary responsibility for coordinating and executing the engagement workplan  

  • Work with engagement leaders to strategize engagement approach and oversee the creation of engagement analyses, including financial analysis and modeling  

  • Manage document organization processes, including reviewing, organizing, and analyzing case documentation, testimony, court filings to identify relevant information utilized for analysis  

  • Manage day-to-day responsibilities of Analysts and Associates  

  • Present analyses and findings to engagement leadership and clients as part of overall engagement deliverables  

  • Assist with the management of client relationships with and without supervision  

  • Conduct and oversee research on companies, industries, and case-specific issues, incorporating technical, economic, accounting, and market research to support analyses, assumptions, and conclusions  

  • Prepare and review written reports, presentations and graphical exhibits  

  • Participate in marketing and thought leadership efforts  

  • Assist with professional development of Analysts and Associates  

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  

  • Ability to critically analyze financial statements, accounting records, tax returns, and other financial documents across multiple engagements  

  • Understanding of financial documents used in day-to-day business operations and transactions  

  • Proficient in using spreadsheet software (Excel), database software, and other data analysis tools to build detailed, complex financial models to trace actual transactions and/or create flexible and robust scenario analyses; statistical, economic, and/or population modeling are a plus.  

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills  

  • Ability to develop and critique alternative arguments/opinions  

  • Strong research skills with the ability to conduct and direct others in comprehensive and relevant research  

  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)  

  • Flexibility to adapt to shifting, client-imposed deadlines  

  • Strong organizational and project management skills  

 

 

Education and/or Training: 

  • 4 year undergraduate degree with a concentration in accounting, finance, or economics  

  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience in the accounting, finance, or economic disciplines. Litigation consulting, forensic accounting, fraud investigation, professional/public accounting, and/or assurance/audit experience preferred. 

  • CPA or other designation preferred.

For individuals assigned to work in California, Colorado, New York City, or Washington, Stout is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The range for this role considers several factors including but not limited to prior work and industry experience, education level, and unique skills. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
