Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Track Maintenance Worker to join our railroad maintenance team in Vinton, United States. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing railroad tracks and related infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient rail operations.
- Perform regular track inspections to identify defects, wear, and potential safety hazards
- Conduct maintenance and repairs on railroad tracks, switches, and crossing systems
- Install, replace, and align railroad ties, rails, and other track components
- Operate specialized track maintenance equipment and machinery
- Measure and monitor track geometry using precision tools
- Document inspection findings and maintenance activities
- Follow all safety protocols and FRA regulations
- Respond to emergency track repairs as needed
- Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition
- Collaborate with maintenance crews on large-scale track projects
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in railroad track maintenance or related field
- FRA Track Safety Standards certification required
- Valid driver's license
- Demonstrated knowledge of track maintenance techniques and safety procedures
- Proficiency in operating track maintenance equipment and power tools
- Strong understanding of railroad track geometry and alignment principles
- Physical ability to lift heavy materials and work in various weather conditions
- Basic mathematical and measurement skills
- Detail-oriented approach with strong focus on safety
- Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and safety regulations
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends when required
