The Magnet Program Manager, Jean Cunningham Department of Nursing, is responsible for day-to-day management of the Magnet Recognition Program and its supportive structure and components within. The Manager ensures that nursing practice is aligned with the Magnet Model to enhance patient care and professional development. The ideal candidate will possess highly effective communication skills and demonstrate strong collaboration among leadership, staff, and interdisciplinary teams to achieve and maintain Magnet status, fostering a culture of nursing excellence.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Leadership: Develop, implement and evaluate strategies that meet or exceed Magnet tenets required for continual designation. This includes advancing and improving the existing shared governance model, building councils at the unit and practice levels, and enhancing competencies in shared governance.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with nursing leaders and staff to promote evidence-based practices, quality improvement initiatives, and professional development programs.
  • Data Management: Collect, analyze, and report data related to nursing quality indicators, patient outcomes, and staff engagement to support Magnet documentation and re-designation processes, including the dissemination of nursing engagement survey results.
  • Certification and Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for all Magnet and Jean Cunningham Department of Nursing related communication and activities; effective coordination of certifications, Daisy awards, Nursing awards, Nurses Week, Nurse Emeritus Program, Clinical Ladder, conferences and academic scholarships.
  • Education and Training: Provide training and resources to nursing staff on the Magnet Model, components of Magnet recognition, and best practices in nursing excellence.
  • Resource Development: Assist in creating and disseminating materials for staff and leadership that promote the goals and values of the Magnet program.
  • Community Engagement: Foster relationships with community partners and organizations to promote the nursing profession and the Magnet program.
  • Continuous Improvement: Establish/maintain a culture of continuous improvement that aligns with the goals and practices of nursing excellence. Identify opportunities for improvement and implement strategies to enhance nursing practice and patient care quality.
  • Other responsibilities as needed to support the needs of the program/department

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) required; master’s degree in nursing or related field preferred.
  • Licensure: Current and valid RN license in Massachusetts.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in nursing, with experience in Magnet designation preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of the Magnet Model and nursing best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in data analysis and performance improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with diverse teams.
  • Demonstrates creative approach to problem solving.
