Group Summary:
The Magna Exteriors portfolio of products includes access systems such as liftgates, exterior trim, modular systems, front-end modules including fascia, active aerodynamic systems and other lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck and other industrial markets.

Job Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY:
Magna Engineered Glass, a leading automotive manufacturer and ISO 14001 certified organization, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Intern to join our team in Holland, Michigan. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in EHS practices within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will assist in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, promoting workplace safety, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives aligned with ISO 14001 standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Environmental Compliance:

  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Participate in environmental audits and inspections, including waste management, air quality, and water usage.
  • Help track and report environmental metrics, such as energy consumption, waste generation, and recycling rates.


Health and Safety:

  • Support the development and implementation of workplace safety programs and policies.
  • Assist in conducting safety inspections, risk assessments, and hazard analyses.
  • Help organize and deliver safety training sessions for employees.
  • Participate in incident investigations and root cause analysis to prevent future occurrences.


Data Management and Reporting:

  • Collect, analyze, and report EHS data to support decision-making and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, environmental performance, and corrective actions.
  • Assist in preparing reports for internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies.


Continuous Improvement:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improving EHS performance.
  • Support sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing the company's environmental footprint.
  • Participate in ISO 14001 internal audits and contribute to corrective action plans.


General Support:

  • Assist the EHS team with day-to-day tasks and special projects as needed.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in EHS.


Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or another related field.
  • Strong interest in environmental sustainability, workplace safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Basic understanding of ISO 14001 standards, and OSHA regulations
  • Effective communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and take on new challenges.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and move around a manufacturing facility for extended periods.
  • Willingness to adhere to personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements as needed.
  • English proficiency required; Spanish bilingual preferred.
