Job Responsibilities:
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the procurement of materials, components, and services required for manufacturing operations at Magna Engineered Glass. This role involves working closely with suppliers, negotiating pricing contracts, and working cross-functionally to ensure the timely delivery of quality goods.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers. Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliable supply chains.
- Assist in negotiating prices and terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings while maintaining quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of quotations and purchases. Update procurement databases and systems as required.
- Collaborate with the quality control team to ensure that incoming materials meet the required specifications and standards.
- Conduct market research to identify potential new suppliers and alternative materials that could improve cost efficiency or quality.
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.
- Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, including cost analysis, supplier performance, and inventory status.
- Work cross-functionally with production, engineering, and finance teams to align procurement with business objectives.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a purchasing or procurement role is preferred.
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with ERP/procurement software preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
- Knowledge of safety standards and protocols in manufacturing environments.
- English proficiency required, with strong verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Office Environment: 80%
- Plant Environment: 20%
- The employee must be able to tolerate sitting for extended periods of time.
- It requires (Near/Far/Depth/Color) vision in order to be able to tolerate the eye strain associated with working on a computer throughout the workday.
- Must be able to tolerate the use of a keyboard and mouse on average of 8 hours per workday.
- While working in the Plant environment, the employee will be exposed to machinery, moving equipment and material, moderate noise, airborne particles, fumes, and various levels of temperature created by the manufacturing process.
- This role operates primarily in an office in a manufacturing facility, hybrid environment. Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings, visit suppliers, or other specific purposes. Travel requirements for this position are estimated at 5% of time or about once per month/quarter and may include both domestic and/or international destinations as needed.
