Repsol is seeking an experienced CCS Contracts and Origination Lead to join the Low Carbon Solutions Business Unit, to be based out of our US Headquarters in The Woodlands, Texas.

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic CCS Contracts and Origination Lead to join our team and drive our global contracts and origination efforts. The ideal candidate will have extensive commercial experience in the CCS industry, with a proven track record of managing complex commercial operations, leading multi-disciplinary teams, and handling contract negotiations.
The CCS Contracts and Origination Lead will play a crucial role in the identification, evaluation and execution of CCS opportunities, negotiation and finalization of long-term CO2 supply, transportation and storage contracts, development of commercial strategies and advise on the resolution of complex commercial issues for the LCS Business Unit. The CCS Contracts and Origination Lead will work closely with the LCS Technical and Operations teams, as well as the wider Energy and Climate Solutions group, to deliver innovative and competitive solutions for our customers and stakeholders.
This role demands extensive expertise in negotiations and contract management.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on commercial strategy development, origination, structuring, and execution of CCS projects aligned with the corporate vision and goals.
- Identify and pursue new opportunities for CCS projects, partnerships, and investments.
- Conduct negotiations and execute agreements including long-term supply, transportation, and storage of CO2.
- Negotiate and manage contracts and agreements with customers, suppliers, partners, and regulators, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry associations, NGOs, and media.
- Represent the LCS business unit in external forums and events, showcasing the value proposition and capabilities of the company.
- Monitor and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory developments, and provide insights and recommendations to the LCS leadership team.
- Develop integrated commercial agreements for CCS projects, ensuring commercial terms and risks are aligned.
- Resolve commercial complexities and risks associated with CCS projects, ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
- Engage with industry executives to formulate decarbonization strategies, build enduring partnerships, and leverage strengths to derisk and execute CCS projects.
- Advise on joint venture partnerships, complex commercial structures, and equity partnership discussions with international off takers and infrastructure funds.
Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Must be fully authorized to work in the US for any company, without the need for sponsorship now or in the future, including those who may hold temporary work authorization through OPT/CPT.
- Extensive U.S. and international commercial experience in the CCS industry.
- Bachelor's degree in geology or engineering, business, economics, or related field; Master's degree or MBA preferred.
- At least 15 years of relevant experience in the energy sector, with a focus on Business Development and commercial negotiations.
- Proven track record in developing and implementing low carbon commercial strategies and leading multi-disciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build long-term external relationships and work across coalitions.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills, with the ability to manage complex and multi-party transactions.
- Entrepreneurial and innovative mindset, with the ability to create and seize new opportunities.
- Enthusiastic and knowledgeable about LCS and the energy transition, with a commitment to sustainability and social responsibility
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Preferred Experience
- Hands-on experience in developing U.S. Gulf Coast CCS projects.
- Experience in leading commercial development of large-scale CCS projects and managing joint venture partners.
- Proven ability to secure funding for CCS projects and develop "first of a kind" commercial agreements for integrated CCS projects.
