Build Operations Lead

Job Description

A Senior Management role as part of the DPS Senior Leadership Team for the delivery of the overall programme.

Providing assistance to the overall programme Director in leading the DXC Product Delivery managers and their associated counterparts ensuring the Operating model is adhered to and designing and delivering any modifications to that delivery model as appropriate, bringing considerable experience to recommend changes as appropriate. Apply and promote strong skills in core project management competencies (planning, risk and financial management, stakeholder management, team leadership) including ensuring the programme adheres to DXCs corporate standards.

Majoring on the Operations of the overall programme, paying particular attention to any areas that need additional help and guidance and ensuring stability and accuracy are in place allowing the Programme Director to focus upon the client and business requirements and complexity of the interconnected business products.

Responsibilities:

• Provide Oversight and guidance in all development and testing phases through the route to Live.
• Provide Programme management expertise of Risk & Issue management and ensure the teams report accurately and in a timely manner for all internal DXC process e.g. PPMC.
• Organize team members to ensure communication and understanding of deadlines, assignments, and objectives is well known and understood.
• Ensure products are accurately capturing their actual financials and signoff IWO's based on the ATI's meeting the overall Finance schedule.
• Support program management team members, assisting with their development and performance.
• Maintain effective communication across the program, addressing Operational questions.
• Assist in managing program budgets and resource allocation efforts.
• Identify and address potential risks that may impact program delivery.
• Develop and define the programme’s governance and controls in line with organisational policies and standards
• When it was appropriate, analyse progress and performance against the project plans on a regular basis, identifying any actions to help recover project timelines or objectives from an agile perspective
• Ensure the programme follows the operating model and the product managers and test managers follow the agreed strategy and standards.
• Ensure requirement development and testing tooling such as Jira and Confluence are kept updated and governed according to the Operate Model, including
  • Documenting, instructing and providing guidance on for all teams on following the Operating Model
  • Manage and oversee the completion of Jira issues.
  • Impact, analyse and understand Jira data to allow the production of comprehensive reporting for upward reporting to the Account executives and Programme director.
• Assist in the development and management of the production of statistics and provide help and guidance on the correct use of the tools I.e. Jira and Confluence

Skills and Experience:

• Substantial and proven experience in managing large-scale projects or programs end-to-end for over 20 years
• Formal certification in recognized Project Management qualification: PMP
• Experienced working in Agile project management methodologies for 20+ years
• Experienced in budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, project management software, finance and accounting concepts and practices
• Experienced working with delivery assurance principles and appropriate procedures
• Experienced working with techniques and approaches related to the architecture, development, integration, deployment and transition of projects and programs
• Good communication skills
• Good leadership skills to train, guide and mentor the work of less experienced personnel
• Creative thinking and problem-solving skills
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and switch between tasks quickly
• Ability to work and foster collaboration in a team environment
• Ability to create and maintain formal and informal networks
• Willingness to travel

Desirable Skills/Qualifications:

• Seen by clients and prospects as having a “can do” delivery focus
• Experience of project implementation in more than one regional market is desirable
• Expert level in project governance and adaptation of project management methodologies
• Formal qualification/accreditation in PMI methodologies or PRINCE 2
