 Position Overview:

 We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Logistics Specialist to join our warehousing and logistics team. The Logistics Specialist position is an advanced position requiring significant experience in logistics operations, exceptional technical skills (equipment operation, cycle counting of material, domestic and international shipment, hazardous shipping, etc.), in-depth knowledge of international logistics and international commercial terms of sale (incoterms), a strong understanding of internal software (i.e. NetSuite, Product Lifecycle Management, etc.), and strong interpersonal and communication skills.

 

The Logistics Specialist will be responsible for shipping and logistics duties in support of internal and external customers for production sustainment, Research and Development (RnD)/New Product Integration (NPI) activities, and servicing external customers via shipments. Additionally, this position is responsible for daily operational activities that support the goals and direction of the department. 

Essential Functions

  • Packout and shipment activities including potential shipments to domestic and international customers.
  • Fulfilment of varying customer orders that includes the potential picking, packing, and fulfilment, physically and systematically.
  • Completion of international shipment paperwork (e.g. commercial invoices, pro forma invoices, shipper’s letter of instruction, bill of lading, etc.) for imports and exports, as appropriate.
  • Coordinating pickup and shipment of items ranging from printers in crates to small parcels and shipments of non-inventory material to various destinations (including trade shows with specific yard rules).
  • Coordinating rigging and crating activities that support tool shipments to customers.
  • Ownership of the end-to-end packout process for a tool shipment, including creation of packing lists, coordinating/scheduling activities of packing partners/shipments, verification of material packing, and fulfilment of shipment within NetSuite.
  • Manage and coordinate the Return Material Authorization (RMA) process to bring materials back from customer sites to Velo3D.
  • Maintaining min/max levels for all non-inventory packaging materials.
  • Packaging and fulfillment of hazardous material shipments that are compliant with Department of Transportation (DOT) and International Air Transportation Agency (IATA) regulations.
  • Maintain accurate recordkeeping of all shipments to and from external sites.
  • Complying with materials management policies and processes, including First In, First Out (FIFO) material rotations, 5S, Safety, Good Documentation and Warehouse Practices, etc.
  • Participating in and/or leading daily cycle counting.
  • Operating powered material handling equipment (e.g. forklifts, electric pallet jacks).
  • Communicating via e-mail the status of material movements and transactions to key stakeholders (when appropriate).

Secondary Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Implement projects, including leading project teams, as directed by leadership.
  • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and relevant shipping documents to maintain global trade compliance.
  • Identify areas or opportunities for operational improvement. Focusing on efficiency and quality, develop proposals for systems and process improvement. Gain consensus from Supervisor and drive the implementation of improvements.
  • Become knowledgeable on all key tasks performed within the warehouse.
  • Be proficient as a “deputized trainer” within the warehouse. At the discretion of the Supervisor, train new or existing personnel on warehouse processes, including completion of required documentation, record keeping, and reporting.
  • Ability to complete daily safety walks, lead and participate in daily management meetings, and maintain daily compliance with PPE policies.
  • Other duties as assigned, including involvement in standard warehouse operating procedures to support daily needs (including but not limited to receiving, point-of-use replenishment of material, material put away, etc.).

Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of logistics operational experience preferred.
  • Customs broker experience/certification a plus.
  • APICS CLTD certification a plus.
  • Experience with hazardous material shipping via DOT and IATA preferred.
  • Experience with rigging, crating, and shipping oversized materials preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with peers and internal customers, both verbally and written.
  • Inventory control experience (cycle counting, physical inventories, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience and/or certification in operating powered material handling equipment preferred.
  • Ability to lift material up to 50 lbs.
  • Extensive walking and repetitive physical motion (squatting, bending, lifting, climbing ladders, etc.) is required.
  • Experience with computer systems (Microsoft Office, NetSuite, PLM, etc.) preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, specifically leadership, coaching, and training.
  • Strong verbal and written skills are required to effectively communicate with team members and internal customers.
  • Experience with continual improvement methodologies/projects (e.g. Lean Six Sigma, PDCA, etc.) preferred.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The starting base salary for this full-time position is between $94,098 and $108,202. This salary range reflects the minimum and maximum target for this position in the U.S. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as work experience, job-related skills, related education, work location, and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. In addition to a competitive base salary and a comprehensive benefits package, this position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and equity program, as applicable.
