The Logistics Specialist, Senior (Transportation) will be based at the US Embassy Compound in Baghdad, Iraq and serve the BLISS contract in support of the U.S. Department of State. This position will be responsible for assisting the Transportation Supervisor in the supervision and dispatch of employees operating transportation assets, utilizing resources to accomplish operational requirements, ensuring all administration files and various reports are submitted in a timely manner. This position will report to the Transportation Supervisor. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.
DUTIES:
- Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.
- Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation.
- Ensure employees adhere to the Performance Work Statement (PWS) and SOP procedures.
- Establish and maintain the utilization, condition, and accountability of vehicles and equipment.
- Assist in the development of self and staff to ensure personal and professional growth.
- Assist in mission planning, assignment of duties, and the meeting of contractual requirements.
- Verify all tasks performed by Transportation are performed in a workmanlike and safe manner.
- Ensure compliance with all DOS, Amentum and Host Nation traffic, safety, health and environmental rules and regulations.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.
REQUIRED:
- Minimum Acceptable Experience Level: Two (2) years’ experience in transportation services, operating heavy trucks and buses.
- Proficient with transportation logistics and processes that ensure continuous improvement (safety, environmental quality and manufacturing).
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of transportation equipment operations and procedures.
- Ability to conduct effective meetings and team assignments.
- Ability to correctly interpret and apply all policies and procedures.
- Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
- Establish and maintain effective work relationship with DoS employees, contractors and the military.
- Excellent time organization and time management skills to coordinate and manage multiple priorities and responsibilities in a fast paced and constantly changing environment.
- Able to perform routine mathematical and alphabetizing functions.
- Knowledge of PC and other office equipment with Microsoft Suite experience.
- Efficient, reliable, and adaptable to change while maintaining high productivity levels.
- Expert computer skills, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficiency in spreadsheet software required.
- Commitment to maintaining a high-performance team which delivers customer service excellence.
- Knowledge of principles and processes involved in supporting contract responsibilities at an overseas facility.

- Education: A high school diploma or GED.
- Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license from Home of Record with required endorsements.
- Security Vetting: Must obtain a favorable RSO certification as required by the position. Must maintain eligibility at the required security level for the duration of the contract.
- Language Skills: The selected candidate must be fluent in Arabic and English (both written and spoken).
- Medical: Favorable passage of a drug screen and physical examination.
DESIRED:
- Department of State experience. Two to three (2-3) years’ international experience in challenging locations, preferably working in the Middle East, with a working knowledge of customs and cultural differences.
- Experience working with Amentum.
WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS:
This position may be located in a war zone, in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment. Temperatures can reach 120- 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50-55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere, extreme environment, as well as willing and able to deploy to Iraq for extended periods. Work schedules are a minimum of 6 days per week and 10 hours per day, while some jobs have higher daily and weekly minimums. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
