Job Description

LGC is seeking a skilled Logistics Manager to oversee warehouse and dispatch operations, ensuring smooth workflows and compliance with safety and quality standards. This leadership role is essential to supporting our laboratory teams and associated customers.

The Logistics Manager will manage the back-of-house operations, including goods-in, stores, and dispatch functions. This involves ensuring safe storage, efficient shipment coordination, and accurate processing of deliveries. The role will focus on maintaining high standards of safety, compliance, and operational excellence while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and develop the Logistics and Stores team, including setting performance goals and implementing staff development plans.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment, ensuring all storage areas and equipment are in optimal condition.
  • Oversee the accurate and timely dispatch and receipt of goods, ensuring compliance with shipping regulations and internal standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels and stock control, collaborating with other LGC sites to ensure availability of necessary supplies.
  • Manage the purchasing and stock control of packaging and packing equipment within budget.
  • Ensure the safe handling and disposal of waste, including chemical and clinical materials, in compliance with regulations.
  • Produce reports for internal stakeholders and customers, supporting data-driven decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in logistics management or a related field.
  • Knowledge of transport and customs compliance, including relevant legislation and documentation.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and ERP systems such as IFS.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams effectively.
  • Dangerous Goods certification (essential).
    Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in waste handling and safe handling of laboratory gases.
  • Knowledge of Legionella monitoring and fire safety protocols.
