Key Responsibilities:Platform Management & Optimization:

  • Support the implementation, administration, and maintenance of Kubernetes, Linux, and VMware environments.
  • Automate build, testing, and deployment of infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
  • Maintain and optimize observability and logging platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic Stack (ELK), and Grafana Loki.
  • Implement configuration management best practices to enhance system reliability and scalability.

Security & Compliance:

  • Ensure all platform environments comply with Rocket Lab cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Contribute to system hardening guides, automated security patching, and compliance audits.
  • Support initiatives related to ISO 27001, NIST 800-171, IPSEC, SSL VPNs, and firewall security.

Project Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Work with cross-functional teams to support platform initiatives, system upgrades, and cloud transformations.
  • Lead or assist in project planning and deployment for new platform technologies and process improvements.
  • Provide technical support and mentorship to IT team members and engineers globally.

Reliability & Disaster Recovery:

  • Implement high availability and disaster recovery solutions for Kubernetes, Linux, and VMware platforms.
  • Monitor system performance, uptime, and cost efficiency through detailed reporting and analytics.
  • Develop automated deployment and maintenance processes to ensure seamless operations.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, system administration, or DevOps roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience (9+ years total experience without a degree).
  • Expertise in Kubernetes and Linux administration.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, Chef, or Puppet.
  • Experience with source control tools such as GitLab, Git, or GitHub.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues.
