Job Summary:
The AWS Cloud Engineer reports to the Director, SysOps and calls for someone who has the necessary hard and soft skills required to overcome the traditional barriers between software development, testing and operations teams. This will involve providing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery solutions which align with established System Development Life Cycles as well as administering and deploying tools to support these functions.
Location: RemoteResponsibilities:
- Lead and contribute to cloud platform projects, focusing on architecture design, implementation, and documentation.
- Manage and enhance our Infrastructure-as-Code base using Terraform and Ansible.
- Efficiently resolve incidents and conduct root cause analyses.
- Support application deployment and maintenance on AWS services like EC2, ECS Fargate, Aurora PostgreSQL,
- Develop cloud platform components and integrate new applications with our monitoring systems.
- Collaborate effectively with international team members.
- Work alongside development teams to troubleshoot complex issues and create innovative solutions, facilitating DevOps processes and production code deployments.
- Promote security and best practices in development and infrastructure through automation, guardrails, and clear communication.
- Implement and manage IAM roles, policies, and permissions for secure and compliant access control.
- Design, deploy, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for streamlined application and infrastructure automation.
- Ensure cloud infrastructure is highly available, scalable, and optimized for performance and reliability.
- Use AWS-native tools (e.g., CloudWatch, CloudTrail, GuardDuty) and third-party solutions to monitor and troubleshoot cloud environments.
- Keep abreast of the latest AWS services and best practices, proactively suggesting architecture and workflow improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or related field.
- 3+ years’ experience in a DevOps role.
- Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Skills/Knowledge Requirements:
- Experience with AWS Amazon and IaC tools, specifically Terraform
- Knowledge of distributed systems and redundancy, high-availability, security and performance optimizations
- Experience with CI/CD tools, preferably with GitLab
- Experience with systems monitoring and application monitoring solutions such as Datadog
- Experience with Bash/Python scripting.
- Demonstrate experience with Docker and containerization best practices, including deploying and managing workloads on AWS ECS Fargate
- Understanding of ITIL framework and all related procedures such us incident management, change management, RCA
- Comfort with collaboration, open communication and reaching across functional borders.
- Independently manage and implement infrastructure as code using Terraform, ensuring best practices and maintainability
Nice to Have:
- Windows and Azure systems administration skills
