One key service operates within the GTT cloud infrastructure in Europe.
As a Client Services DevOps Engineer, you will oversee this cloud infrastructure, ensuring reliable, scalable, and secure operations. This role involves managing mail servers, log servers, VPN routers, network systems, and monitoring software. Part of your responsibility includes monitoring virtual machine resources and notifying clients when capacity adjustments impact service.
You will also participate in a 24x7x365 support team to maintain maximum availability for Thales OneWelcome services.
Essential Functions / Key Areas of Responsibility
- Monitor and Maintain Cloud Infrastructure: Continuously monitor GTT cloud environments to identify and resolve potential issues affecting service availability.
- Conduct Availability/Recovery Testing: Perform testing to ensure compliance and verify that all recovery procedures are functioning as intended.
- Manage Security Components: Oversee critical security components within the OneWelcome cloud service, ensuring they are properly maintained and reporting any necessary improvements to Thales Leads.
- 24/7 Monitoring Framework Ownership: Maintain and enhance the monitoring framework to detect and alert service-impacting issues to the on-duty engineer at any time.
- Tooling Ownership: Oversee (Ansible, Bash, Python) tools essential for configuration management, monitoring, availability, and disaster recovery. Continuously improve these tools to enhance service reliability.
- Deployment Procedure Management: Own and improve the GTT deployment process for OneWelcome products, ensuring deployment reliability.
- Technical Consultation: Provide expertise on platform and tooling support to Technical Consultants.
- On-Call Support: Share on-call responsibilities with the team, proactively scheduling shifts to balance workloads and avoid conflicts.
Minimum Requirements: Skills, Experience & Education
- Commitment to Service Availability: Must have a passion for delivering reliable, "always on" service.
- Language Skills: Fluent English required; Dutch is preferred.
- Technical Expertise:
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms and the (Apache) CloudStack API.
- Strong Linux and networking skills (VMware, Terraform, Python programming, MySQL database skills are a plus).
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- Professional Experience: At least 3 years in a similar role, with hands-on experience in:
- Managing Linux environments
- Configuring, troubleshooting, and diagnosing issues related to networking, EXIM, HAProxy, and the ELK stack.
