Position Summary:
The Legislative Specialist will support a team of legal and government affairs professionals dedicated to providing first-class service to clients. This individual will be relied upon for thorough, accurate and timely information regarding legislative and regulatory activities, as well as current events, that impact our practice. The successful candidate must be able to accommodate the irregular hours of the State legislature and other deadlines.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Reviews legislative bill introductions and amendments
- Reviews and distributes committee agendas, Senate Active List, Assembly Debate List and Calendars with bill tracking notes
- Runs legislative tracking reports
- Monitors release of Executive Budget, assists with distribution to GLP team and clients
- Tracks legislation activity and monitors legislative sessions
- Monitors hearings and provides summary notes
- Oversees the management of lobby days and other events

- Provide outstanding client service, meet high quality standards for services and meet or exceed client expectations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), professional demeanor and presentation, including solid composition, research and editing skills
- High attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, prioritize workload and manage time effectively
- Position also requires the ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines, adapt to a fast-paced high-pressure environment to achieve business goals and objectives
- Must be a self-starter, organized, able to work with a minimum of supervision, yet be part of a global oriented team
Qualifications & Prior Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years government affairs experience with demonstrated knowledge of State legislature
- Knowledge and prior use of the Legislative Retrieval System (LRS)
- Computer proficiency in Windows-based software and Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
- Exceptional computer skills with the ability to learn new software applications quickly
