💻 Role
Whatnot is seeking a Legal Operations professional to help optimize their legal processes as they continue to scale. This is an exciting opportunity for a paraprofessional or legal operations professional who is eager to join a fast-growing company and create the Legal Operations function.
What You'll Do
- Overall: Lead change management initiatives related to legal operations, such as process improvements, technology implementations, and organizational restructuring. Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency gains within the legal department. Implement a culture of continuous improvement and drive initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness.
- Contract management: Take day-to-day lead on contracts management processes, working closely with Whatnot’s commercial teams to ensure an organized contract lifecycle process and up to date processes and policies across all of our business teams; Assist with the management of procurement processes and vendor review.
- Legal records: Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge management system to store and organize legal documents, templates, and resources. Implement best practices for knowledge sharing and collaboration within the legal team.
- Tech implementation/automation: Identify and implement technology solutions to streamline legal processes, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall effectiveness of the legal team; Track, compile and analyze metrics on contracts, product review and legal workflow processes
- Legal budget: Optimize and manage the Legal team’s financial processes, including budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting and analysis, expense administration, e-billing, and matter management.
- Legal requests: Managing the workflows, data-gathering processes, and external communications for legal requests.
- Other: Depending on background and interest, you may also assist with corporate paralegal matters, stock administration, and other projects supporting the Legal team; Assist with various corporate documents and legal filings, including preparation of entity formation documents or state filings.

- Minimum of 7 years of experience in legal operations or related roles, preferably in a fast-paced technology company.
- Adept at automation and AI; extensive experience with Slack, Google Suite, and other software tools (e.g., Zapier, Notion, legal intake tools, e-billing platforms, vendor management platforms, and CLM platforms (Ironclad and Zip a plus!)).
- Strong knowledge of legal processes, contracts management, and legal technology solutions.
- Experience in developing and executing strategic plans for a legal department, aligning department goals with broader organizational objectives.
- Proven track record of driving process improvements, optimizing work processes, and implementing efficiency gains within a legal department.
- Familiarity with knowledge management systems and best practices for knowledge sharing and collaboration within a legal team.
- Strong project and program management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
💰Compensation
$165,000/year to $230,000/year + benefits + stock options
The salary range is inclusive of several levels that would be applicable to the position. Final salary will be based on a number of factors including, level, relevant prior experience, skills and expertise. This range is only inclusive of base salary, not benefits (more details below) or equity in the form of stock options.
