The Opportunity:
Working in the in-house legal team for UK as part of the wider global legal function, you will be responsible for providing pragmatic, commercial, legal advice across a range of legal areas as part of a well-respected and dynamic in-house legal function. Opportunity to work in a high profile and thought-provoking area of the tech industry, both at a national and international level.
This role involves drafting, advising on and negotiating commercial contracts and providing competent legal advice on a broad range of matters. Matters include data protection and privacy, disputes, IP, employment or real property. The team is also asked to advise on policy related to cyber security more generally.
The legal counsel will liaise closely with the global legal team to ensure a consistent approach is taken – for example when considering risk, processes and new services.
Job Responsibilities:

Understanding the business and its services.

Building relations with stakeholders and being seen as a trusted advisor.

Co-ordinating with NCC Group lawyers globally.

Working as a “regional expert” on client contracts across the UK region, delivering commercial and pragmatic advice, and from time to time, working on contracts from other regions.

Supporting internal functions (e.g. finance, marketing etc) on any legal matters.

Reviewing and maintaining standard legal documents, processes and templates, collaborating with the relevant teams on any suggested changes and implementing these where necessary.

Implementing new processes and technology for the continuous improvement of the legal team.
Key Competencies:

The role’s central competency is to be able to provide sound legal advice, which takes account of the business’ risk appetite, to NCC Group.

Some experience of commercial contracts is essential. Experience in other relevant areas of law is advantageous.

Experience of services similar to those of NCC Group is advantageous – namely, professional services in the technology sector. An interest in cyber security is essential!

Experience of working in an in-house environment is advantageous.

Fluency in English is essential; other relevant language skills are advantageous.

Minimum Qualifications:

Admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales.

As a guide, 4-6 years of post-qualification legal experience with a strong focus on commercial contracts experience, obtained working in a law firm and/or in-house.
