To strengthen its legal department, DEME is looking for an experienced Legal Counsel with a proven track record in contract law and general commercial law. You will be part of the legal sub-team that is responsible for DEME’s procurement activities. The DEME Procurement Organization oversees DEME’s global procurement activities, required for its projects worldwide, as well as its corporate procurement requirements, allowing for first-in-class operation of DEME’s vessels and facilities, as well as its day-to-day activities.
You will be based at DEME’s office in the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg.
Your responsibilities
- Providing legal support in respect of DEME’s procurement activities for its projects worldwide, with an emphasis on purchases for high-value transport & installation, turn-key and EPC projects as well as providing legal support in respect of DEME’s geosciences services for projects worldwide;
- Advising the business on and assisting them with all legal and contractual aspects of DEME’s procurement services and geosciences services;
- Negotiating, drafting, reviewing and amending all types of procurement related contracts, such as purchase agreements, (intellectual) service agreements, maintenance agreements, turn-key and EPC agreements, framework agreements, reservation agreements, LoI’s, MoU’s and confidentiality agreements, as well as all types of geosciences services agreements;
- Act as a point of contact for the Procurement Organization and/or Project Management to advise and assist on contractual issues arising during the execution of procurement related contracts.
- Liaise with other supporting departments in order to ensure effective risk-management.
Your profile
- You hold a Master’s Degree in Law.
- You have at least 5 years of professional experience as a lawyer or in-house counsel in an international (industrial) environment covering one or more of the responsibilities listed above.
- You are fluent in English and French. Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
- You have strong written and oral communication and relational skills.
- Affinity with the offshore and marine contracting/engineering industry and procurement in general is considered a plus.
- You are customer-oriented and known as a problem-solver that searches for practical solutions.
- You are a dynamic person with an eye for detail, who is result-oriented and works efficiently.
- You are well organized and stress resistant, capable of handling multiple projects simultaneously.
- You are assertive, self-confident and a true team player, and at the same time you are able to work autonomously.
- You are willing to travel for a limited period if required.
- You are willing to travel frequently to DEME’s headquarters in Antwerp (Belgium), as required.
