The Trust Legal Counsel will provide hands-on legal support and counsel to and work with business leaders, managers, and colleagues on legal issues impacting UMB and its subsidiaries.
How you will spend your time:

Advises and serves as a legal resource to Private Wealth Management and other Bank personnel, outside counsel and Bank clients' advisors regarding issues relating to the UMB's administration of fiduciary accounts.

Assists in supervising the handling of decedents' files to ensure adequately complying with its duties as custodian of Bank clients' will, trust and estate administration.

Reviews and advises on investment related issues/topics.

Reviews and advises on issues related to Registered Investment Advisors and Broker Dealers.

Experience working with accounts regulated by SEC, FINRA, OCC, MSRB and ERISA.

Reviews documents in a timely, accurate and thorough manner applying current applicable laws, rules and regulations and UMB policies and procedures.

Drafts appropriate documents in a timely, accurate and thorough manner applying current applicable laws, rules and regulations and UMB policies and procedures.

Provides accurate and current information as requested and as appropriate, conducting research in an efficient and thorough manner.

Confers and communicates with Legal Team Members, Managing Directors, Trust Advisors, Trust Associates, Wealth Advisors, Financial Advisors, Portfolio Managers, Financial Planners, Corporate Legal and members of Management as well as investment advisors, accountants, financial planners and attorneys employed by account clients.

Provides education and training to other Private Wealth Management and Bank personnel as appropriate.

Assists with projects and research requested by Private Wealth Management

Assists with litigation relating to Private Wealth accounts, coordinating with internal litigation attorneys and outside counsel.

Assists with the management of outside counsel relationships for Private Wealth.

Participates on committees, attends meetings and functions as deemed necessary by Management.

Bachelor’s degree

JD and licensed to practice law.

4 years of demonstrated experience in related law practice.

Knowledge in Trust, Estate and Financial Planning, Real Estate, Oil and Gas, Farms, Tax, Probate Administration, Charitable Planning, Retirement Planning, and other related areas.

Demonstrates working knowledge of investments and insurance products.
-
Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrates knowledge of Private Wealth and Bank products and services.

Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Demonstrates good organizational skills.
Compensation Range:
Minimum: $99,750.00 - Maximum: $257,250.00
