The Position
Legal Counsel - North Africa

The Opportunity
We are looking for a Legal Counsel to provide high-quality legal advice and support in line with our organizational standards.
This role includes drafting and reviewing legal agreements, partnering with internal stakeholders on a range of legal matters, and supporting company secretarial responsibilities.
The Legal Counsel will act as the key legal contact for market-specific issues and oversee distributor performance across the North Africa Network. Additionally, the role will contribute to legal training initiatives and help ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and statutory requirements.
Your Impact

Provide high-quality legal advice and support in line with Roche DIA's standards.

Draft and review legal agreements, ensuring compliance and mitigating legal risks.

Collaborate with internal stakeholders on legal matters, offering guidance and support as needed.

Manage performance of Business partners in distributors’ countries in alignment with different functions

Support legal training and awareness initiatives within the network.

Assist with company secretarial duties as required, ensuring all necessary documentation is prepared and filed appropriately.

Act as the primary legal point of contact for market-specific legal matters, providing guidance on contractual negotiations and dispute resolution.

Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and legal entity statutory requirements within the network.

Draft and review distributors agreements based on the set up of roles in order to ensure that distributor duties are fulfilled & act accordingly.

Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of legal agreements, including procurement, strategic partnerships, and business contracts.

Advise on legal risks and requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Support litigation matters and ensure data privacy compliance.

Assist in company secretarial duties as necessary.

Stay abreast of changes in legal and regulatory frameworks and communicate implications to relevant stakeholders.

Collaborate effectively with internal teams to address legal issues and provide solutions.

Support distributors with management of the business.
Who you are
-
You hold an LLB or an equivalent legal degree from a reputable university and are an admitted attorney or advocate.

You have demonstrated experience (8 to 10 years) in a commercial legal environment.

You demonstrate a deep understanding of legal principles and regulations, with strong drafting and negotiation skills.

You are capable of analyzing complex legal issues and providing practical, business-oriented solutions.

You bring excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

You are proficient in drafting and negotiating contracts and have a solid understanding of relevant legal and regulatory frameworks in the market.

You are familiar with the pharmaceutical or diagnostics industry, and experience in distributor partnering is considered an advantage.

You are empowered to approve legal agreements within the scope of the North Africa Network.

You provide sound legal advice and recommendations on key legal matters.

You escalate significant legal issues to senior management and the Pan-Africa Legal & Compliance Excellence Partner when necessary.

You make informed recommendations on resource allocation for legal initiatives within the network.

You collaborate closely with the Pan-Africa Legal & Compliance Excellence Partner on strategic legal decisions.

You represent legal interests at the network level, influencing legal strategies to support overall business objectives.
