Alleima India Private Limited is looking for a business minded, experienced and socially confident Legal Counsel to strengthen our global Legal Support team with focus on India. In addition, this position will also occasionally support Alleima’s other offices and facilities in Dubai, UAE and potentially other Southeast Asian countries. The job - empowering the business to make confident decisions
Legal Support is responsible for enabling the business to take informed and balanced decisions across all legal disciplines worldwide by providing qualitative legal advice and proactively assessing and mitigating key risks of our business. Your primary focus and responsibility would be India, where we have our head office and R&D center in Pune, Maharashtra and manufacturing units in Mehsana, Gujarat and Hosur, Tamil Nadu. In addition, this position will also occasionally support Alleima’s other offices and facilities in Dubai, UAE and potentially other Southeast Asian countries. This requires accuracy, strong integrity and solid business understanding, as well as proficiency across many legal, regulatory and compliance disciplines. Besides providing legal advice in relation to drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements, an important part of your job is to ensure that we stay compliant with legal and regulatory requirements and applicable laws, as well as advice on competition and anti-bribery legislations, employment law, trade and public policy matters and dispute resolution. This includes implementation of relevant policies and procedures, as well as management of legal training and legal risk management of agreements.

This role would be based out of our India head office in Pune, Maharashtra. Travel between our sites in India and some domestic and international travel is a natural part of the job.
Your responsibilities are as follows:

Solid experience to independently handle (draft, review and negotiate) all types of commercial contracts and tender conditions in Alleima’s business.

Guide and advice on distribution and agency set-ups.

Advise on legal disputes and handle litigation/arbitration matters.

Advise on real estate issues and construction projects.

Advise on various internal policies of Alleima.

Draft legal opinions and risk assessment reports as and when required.

Track legal and regulatory updates and share important updates with the legal team.

General legal advice to business and other legal matters as required.

Work with external legal counsel on specific matters ranging from litigation to expert advice requests within expected cost constraints.

Advice on labour/employment law matters.

Advice and support on various regulatory matters, such as trade compliance, import/export restrictions, sanctions and embargoes, antitrust and industry standards (BIS).

Being conversant with various norms and regulations applicable to the steel industry.

Advice on anti-trust/competition, data privacy and anti-bribery legislations.

Continue current initiatives to develop global sales templates, training and processes to complement the sales process.

Experience with mergers and acquisitions is an asset.

Qualifications And Experience

You possess a Bachelor of Law (LL.B) degree in India and at least 8 – 10 years’ work experience preferably gained in-house with a multi-national company and/or with a leading law firm.

Experience of analysis of complex issues. Attention to detail, ability to communicate in a concise and lucid manner and willingness to marshal the relevant facts is important. Excellent English, additional languages are an advantage.

You have the legal experience needed to act independently and to find legally adequate solutions to various situations, as well as a keen interest to further deepen your knowledge within legal areas and the business, of particular importance.
