As a Lead Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET), you will play a crucial role in leading the quality assurance efforts across our holistic development estate, including UI, Integration, and Unit testing positions. This is a senior position that requires a deep understanding of software engineering, testing methodologies, and the ability to drive the overall test strategy.You will collaborate closely with Software Engineers and Test Engineers to ensure the delivery of high-quality software products. Additionally, you will provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
THE ROLE & YOUR MISSION
- Lead the development and implementation of the overall test strategy across the holistic development estate, including UI, Integration, and Unit testing positions.
- Collaborate with Software Engineers and Test Engineers to design and develop robust and scalable test frameworks, tools, and automation scripts.
- Drive the adoption of best practices in testing and quality assurance, ensuring adherence to industry standards and guidelines.
- Define and establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of the testing process.
- Conduct thorough testing of software applications, analyze test results, and provide detailed reports to stakeholders, highlighting any issues or areas for improvement.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and advancements in testing methodologies, and drive their adoption within the team.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, architects, product owners, and quality assurance, to ensure seamless integration of testing activities within the development process.
YOUR EXPERIENCE & VALUES
- Proven experience of working on multiple products in the delivery of both features and tests
- Experience working with agile practices (e.g. Scrum or Kanban), Lean and Continuous Delivery approaches such as Continuous Integration, Test-Driven Development and Infrastructure as Code
- Strong Experience with test automation frameworks such as Selenium, Playwright WebDriverIO, Appium, or Cypress.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman or SoapUI.
- Knowledge of performance testing tools such as JMeter or Gatling.
- Experience with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like ADO, Jenkins or GitHub.
- Understanding of containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Knowledge of database testing techniques and tools such as SQL or NoSQL databases.
Technical Skills or Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience in Software Engineering, Test Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience as an SDET or in a similar role, with a strong background in software development and testing.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript (MEAN), C#, or Python, and experience with test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, WebdriverIO, Cypress, Playwright, testNG).
- Solid understanding of software testing principles, techniques, and tools, including unit testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit, Jest, NUnit) and mocking frameworks (e.g., Mockito, Moq).
- Experience with UI, Integration, and Unit testing positions, and the ability to design and develop robust test frameworks and automation scripts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and propose effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and guide team members.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality software products.
