Our mission: radically accelerate air travel.
The Role
The Lead Fluid Systems Engineer will oversee the design, analysis, and testing of fluid systems in hypersonic vehicles, leading a team to ensure efficient operation of propulsion and thermal systems, and facilitating performance analyses and experimental testing.
Summary Generated by Built In

Hermeus is an aerospace and defense technology company founded to radically accelerate air travel by delivering hypersonic aircraft. The company aims to develop hypersonic aircraft quickly and cost-effectively by integrating hardware-rich, iterative development with modern computing and autonomy. This approach has been validated through design, build, and test of the company’s first combined turbojet-ramjet engine and is now being scaled through its first flight vehicle program, Quarterhorse. Hermeus is also developing Darkhorse — an uncrewed hypersonic aircraft designed to deliver unique asymmetric capabilities to the warfighter.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Fluid Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team and contribute to the development of the next generation of hypersonic vehicles. As a Lead Fluid Systems Engineer at Hermeus, you will play a pivotal role in leading the design, analysis, and testing fluid systems for our hypersonic vehicles. You will collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our cutting-edge propulsion and thermal management systems. This position offers a unique opportunity to work on groundbreaking technology in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.

What We Do

Hermeus is a startup developing hypersonic aircraft to radically accelerate air travel.

At Mach 5, more than twice the speed of the supersonic Concorde, passengers will be able to cross the Atlantic in 90 minutes.

On the path to hypersonic passenger aircraft, Hermeus is partnering with government agencies including the US Air Force and NASA to develop a series of autonomous aircraft that derisk the technology and solve urgent national security challenges. These products provide the data and confidence necessary to certify, produce, operate, and maintain safe and comfortable commercial aircraft.

Hypersonic aircraft have the potential to create trillions of dollars of new global economic growth per year, unlocking significant resources that can be utilized to solve the world’s greatest problems.

Why Work With Us

We prioritize hardware and people. Cutting-edge technology is only made possible by bringing together a world-class team. At Hermeus, you will be challenged – but also empowered. We encourage calculated risks taking and learning from our mistakes. Iteration is the name of the game.
