LEAD ENGINEER, CONTROLS STSTEMS ENGINEER

 

The Role: 

Our site in Aurora, Illinois is seeking a highly skilled Lead Engineer, Control Systems Engineer to join our global control systems team. This role focuses on OT instrumentation, control networks, and cyber vulnerability mitigation. Our team supports the company's largest product lines and spearheads strategic automation initiatives, including new product commercialization, innovative process technology implementation, and the development of automation strategies across our four global manufacturing sites. 

 

As a batch chemical manufacturer serving the semiconductor industry, we require the highest standards of quality and control. The engineer in this role will play a crucial part in maintaining and enhancing these standards through continuous improvement and the adoption of new technologies.

This position offers the opportunity to gain expertise in the Rockwell and GE process control suites, including the development of batch manufacturing recipes, statistical process controls, and the automation of process data collection and analysis. 

 

 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Develop Tenable OT configurations in conjunction with the IT Cyber team 

  • Ensure Tenable appliance is configured to capture all devices and traffic within the OT environment 

  • Develop SOP’s on how to deploy and configure Tenable OT and other Cyber applications in alignment with ISA99/62443 

  • Manage global review and remediation processes 

  • Work with the global sites to develop remediation responses to risks based on IT Cyber policies, while protecting plant up time 

  • Work to continuously improve our Cyber position through innovative solutions and practices 

  • Maintain Entegris and Industry standards 

  • Stay informed of Entegris Cyber policies 

  • Establish working relationships with the IT Cyber team 

  • Remain educated on regulatory requirements, internal policies and industry best practices (ISA). 

  • Lead automation activities for new products and processes being commercialized 

  • Expert advice into process design, P&ID, and instrument positioning/installation 

  • Specification of instrumentation in conjunction with process engineer and internal standards 

  • Create I/O lists and define/document industrial network infrastructure 

  • Work with control systems engineers and process engineers to build SCADA screens using iFix software 

  • Simulation testing of new automation programs (SCADA/PLC) 

  • Commissioning new process – loop testing, troubleshooting, alarm/interlock validation 

  • Production support as expert backup to site engineers 

  • On-call when site engineer on PTO 

  • Addressing more complex issues or problems 

  • Working on plant floor as needed to fix problems or startup new equipment 

  • Provide expertise and ideas around global automation strategy, best practices, and technology evolution 

  • Develop instrumentation capability through-out Entegris by providing training, mentoring and feedback to others 

  • Maintaining master I/O lists, licensing, and critical drawings 

 

What We Seek: 

  • B.S. Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical) 

  • Preferably three to five years’ experience, or more, in security systems administration, with two or more years’ risk management experience. 

  • At least 5 years hands-on engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably batch(ISA88) or specialty chemical manufacturing 

  • Demonstrated troubleshooting skills and root cause identification 

  • Ability to lead design efforts on multiple assignments of varying complexity including implementation of new products & processes 

  • Communication and cross-functional teamwork 

  • Required experience: 

  • Process Instrumentation and Transmitters 

  • Industrial Automation Networking 

  • Interpretation of P&ID and Electrical Schematics 

  • Specifying instruments (valves, pumps, motors, etc.) 

  • PLC programming 

  • Configuring VFD’s 

  • Experience in use and integration of the following applications 

  • Tenable OT application 

  • Microsoft Defender application 

  • GE suite of applications – HMI/SCADA (iFix) familiarity 

  • Rockwell suite of applications 

  • Allen Bradley ControlLogix family 

  • DeviceNet/Ethernet IP networks 

  • Stratix/Cisco switches 

  • PowerFlex VFD configuration 

  • Knowledge of International Standards ISA88 (batch)/ ISA99 (cyber) / ISA95 (enterprise IACS) 

  • VB Scripting and ODBC connections 

  • Electrical safety certification

• Compensation: $116,000 - 145,000 per year range with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role
