What you’ll be doing 

You will be joining our Whole System Strategy & Optimisation team that delivers key energy project across SP Energy Networks (SPEN) that leverages technology, novel process, and markets to support our customers and stakeholders on their Net Zero journey, enable a Just Transition and deliver better Whole System outcomes.

You will be working with cross functional teams across the business and the wider energy sector. Having the flexibility to thrive in a new and rapidly developing space are critical and as part of this team, you can expect to be:

Informing the future development of the energy sector through strategic relationships, optimisation solutions and energy plan development:

Lead on the delivery of large-scale strategic optimisation assessments to provide innovative solutions to help deliver Local, Regional and National Government net zero aspirations.

Lead a team of energy system specialists to identify required solutions for all Local Authority Low Carbon Technology (LCT) optioneering requirements.

Identify new opportunities to deliver value through innovative network modelling, modelling tools and the development of strategic inputs for SPEN’s medium and long-term network investment plans.

Scope and deliver innovative solutions for aligning strategic stakeholder information into our existing network planning processes via improved modelling development practices and automation of data architecture.

Provide support on embedding Whole System thinking across SP Energy Networks – including building the culture, systems, policies, and processes.

Delivering impactful projects through project management and analysis:

Lead on the development of solutions to meet business requirements that represent a benefit for our customers, Local, Regional and National Government bodies, wider society, and our business.

Accountability for reporting requirements, generation of reports/analysis.

Provide leadership on industry working groups/forums to influence the direction of key developments in the sector.

Lead on business change programmes across SP Energy Networks for the implementation of new technical, commercial or policy approaches.

What you’ll bring 

  • Electricity network design experience, preferably up to EHV.

  • Network modelling / model development experience.

  • Project Management experience, with the ability to manage and deliver multiple projects and programmes of work.

  • High level business planning, financial awareness, and strategic thinking.

  • Effective at leading and managing change and creating a culture of engagement and positivity.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the abilities to influence and persuade effectively.

  • High degree of emotional intelligence, including good listening skills, tact, diplomacy, and political awareness.

  • Analytical skills and attention to detail, with advanced experience with full suite of MS software incl. Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

  • Ability to prioritise and manage a diverse and demanding workload.
