A DAY IN THE LIFE
As a key member of the team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:
- Prepare conceptual and detailed mechanical and process designs, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates for water (including groundwater, stormwater, surface water and drinking water) and vapor treatment facilities. More specific responsibilities include establishing appropriate design methods, conducting engineering and process design, equipment sizing and selection, coordinating with other engineering disciplines, and design deliverable preparation.
- Perform engineering calculations for piping systems, pump selection, heat & mass balances, and treatment process optimization.
- Learn and understand the highly technical products that ECT2 is delivering to our customers.
- Ensure excellence in technical aspects of the project including planning, design execution, Safety-in-Design, establishing and maintaining external vendor relationships, communications, resource management, project schedule/scope/budget, and quality control.
- Direct the execution of design projects and mentor junior engineering staff. Establish and lead the project team by identifying internal and external resources, including external subcontractor(s) as needed. Integration and collaboration with the existing US and EU based design team members will be required and working constructively in the team environment while potentially being geographically distant from other team members.
- Strive for the development of reliable, effective and safe products that have an impact on the emerging contaminant marketplace.
- Perform construction, fabrication and start-up oversight with our partner fabrication shops and customers’ contractors; follow design vision through to completion and function.
- Conduct quality control and quality assurance tests and ensure designs are compliant with the clients’ technical requirements and budget(s).
- Assist in marketing business opportunities with key clients and development of responses to RFP/RFQs.
- Serve as a key client contact tasked with building and maintaining client relations with both internal and external clients coupled with the development of new clients.
- Travel to the project site to conduct project-related tasks; provides timely responses to managers and clients on project tasks (domestic and international travel up to 25%).
- Participate in Company’s continuous improvement programs and provide support to team efforts.
- Keep up-to-date and current on industry trends by completing formal training, reviewing professional publications, and attending professional workshops.
- Be an integral part of our safety culture, approaching all aspects of work with a safety-first attitude.
- Exercise safe work practices by following all Company safety rules and local regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.
- Contribute to process improvement activities within ECT2’s Integrated Management System.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil and Environmental, Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical or Process Engineering from an accredited university
- 10+ years of engineering-related experience in water treatment or related field
- Excellent organizational, communication and leadership skills, including a demonstrated ability to lead multi-discipline teams and motivate others
- Ability to interface with cross-functional teams and all levels of personnel/management
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Solid time/project management skills
- Experience leading project teams (multidisciplinary preferred)
- Exposure and experience coordinating with other engineering disciplines (i.e. electrical, instrumentation, civil, architectural and structural disciplines)
- Able to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities (i.e. self-starter, self-motivated)
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed (estimated up to 25%)
- Competency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software, 3D preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software
