Job Summary
About Us: The AI Innovation Lab at HCSC is at the forefront of integrating cutting-edge AI technologies to address critical challenges in the healthcare payer space. We are particularly focused on the transformative potential of generative AI and its applications. We are seeking a Lead Data Scientist with expertise in generative AI to join our dynamic team.
Position Overview: This role is pivotal in advancing our generative AI initiatives. The Lead Data Scientist will leverage advanced mathematical, statistical, and AI concepts to develop innovative solutions that drive business impact. You will work on designing, implementing, and validating generative models to solve complex healthcare problems.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement generative AI models to address specific business challenges in the healthcare payer space.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for applying generative AI and large language models.

Conduct complex statistical analyses and experiments to validate model performance and effectiveness.

Construct and refine predictive models, algorithms, and probability engines to enhance data-driven decision-making.

Design and execute experiments to generate and collect data, ensuring robust model training and validation.

Extract actionable insights from structured and unstructured data, identifying patterns and trends.

Lead and mentor junior data scientists, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
Required Job Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of work experience in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics or related quantitative field; OR Actuarial credential or Master’s degree and 4 years of work experience in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics or related quantitative field; OR Ph.D. and 2 years of work experience in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics or related quantitative field; OR 9 years of work experience in a mathematical, statistical, computer science, engineering, physics, economics or related quantitative field.

* Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficiency in at least five of the following six areas, and demonstrated mastery in at least one: 1) data analysis and relational-style query languages; 2) machine learning and/or statistical modeling; 3) data visualization; 4) a high-level programming language; 5) distributed computing; 6) understanding of healthcare.
* A track record of independently delivering or leading the delivery of a complex analytics or data science project.
* A track record of mentoring, managing, or leading junior analytics or data science staff.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
* Masters or Ph.D. in a quantitative field, or bachelor's degree with significant healthcare experience.
* Experience in applying generative AI in the healthcare industry.

The compensation offered will vary depending on your job-related skills, education, knowledge, and experience. This role aligns with an annual incentive bonus plan subject to the terms and the conditions of the plan.
