DataRobot’s Lead Data Scientists are experienced, applied data scientists passionate about using machine learning to achieve real-world results. As a Lead Data Scientist at DataRobot, you will lead pre and post-sales engagements with complex and strategic DataRobot client accounts to help customers achieve their organization’s objectives with AI. You’ll work with clients in various industries on diverse use cases and with stakeholders in business (executive, line of business) and technical (data science, engineering, analytics). You will bring expertise in data science and the DataRobot platform, as well as complementary industry technologies, and help clients define and execute their AI solutions. You will develop and maintain deep subject matter expertise in identified areas and act as an internal and external expert in these areas, contributing to enablement, marketing, and product direction. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead or act as a team lead for complex and strategic customer accounts through the entire customer lifecycle, beginning with pre-sales and as an ongoing client of DataRobot.

  • Advise and mentor more junior team members.

  • Act as a trusted advisor on AI; enable customers to solve complex data science problems using DataRobot – including problem framing, data preparation, scripting, model building, model deployment, model management, and output consumption.

  • Design end-to-end solutions for clients, including integrating with existing technology stack components.

  • In the pre-sales process, represent the DataRobot product to customer executives – lead demonstrations, advise on and evaluate the viability of customer use cases, help develop success criteria, support Proof of Value trials, and quantify the business impact.

  • In the post-sales process, be the DataRobot product and data science subject matter expert to our customers; lead implementation, advise on the viability and execution of use cases, help to develop Joint Success Plans (JSP), and lead the execution of them.

  • Work collaboratively with the Sales, Account Management, and Field Engineering teams to help our customers achieve their goals with DataRobo.t

  • Develop and leverage deep subject matter expertise in specific domain areas; act as an internal and external expert in these areas: advise colleagues, build template solutions, build enablement materials, and contribute to marketing, go to market, and product direction.

  • Present at conferences and/or help create other marketing content to represent DataRobot technology and solutions.

  • Act internally as the voice of the customer to the product and engineering; influence product direction based on trends observed with clients and in the market.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • 10+ years of real-world business experience in a data science role.

  • 10+ years of experience in customer-facing roles.

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a quantitative subject.

  • Hands-on experience in designing end-to-end AI solutions for diverse problem types and business requirements.

  • Experience with the consultative sales process and/or professional services delivery in the analytics marketplace.

  • Experience collaborating with business, technical, and executive stakeholders to ensure that machine learning solutions deliver successful business outcomes.

  • Experience leading complex projects, including project management and alignment of cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.

  • Familiarity with a variety of technical tools for the manipulation of data.

  • Fluency with scripting in Python or R (preferably both).

  • Regional travel may be required.

Nice to have:

  • Advanced degree.

  • Experience with cloud AI/ML technology services.

  • Experience with common enterprise data platforms.

  • Deep subject matter expertise in the relevant vertical industry, ecosystem technology partners, or DS/technology areas (e.g., AIOps architectures, generative AI, etc.).
