We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Lead Data Operations Engineer to join our 24x7 data operations team. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for overseeing the monitoring and maintenance of all data jobs to ensure compliance with customer Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The ideal candidate will excel in problem-solving, proactive communication, and managing high-pressure situations while leading a team of operations engineers globally distributed.
Key Responsibilities:
- 24x7 Monitoring: Lead the oversight of all data jobs, ensuring compliance with customer SLAs and quality standards.
- Proactive Communication: Maintain open lines of communication with customers regarding data availability, issues, maintenance, and deployments, ensuring transparency and responsiveness.
- Troubleshooting: Guide the team in diagnosing and resolving complex data issues promptly and effectively.
- Multi-tasking: Manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment, delegating responsibilities as needed.
- Monitoring Systems: Establish and refine monitoring systems to detect issues within data pipelines, implementing appropriate response mechanisms.
- Automation: Identify and implement automation solutions for repetitive tasks to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Metrics and Observability: Drive the gathering of metrics and the development of strategies to enhance data observability and overall performance across the team.
Operational Processes: Define, implement, and document operational processes and procedures, leading periodic reviews for efficiency and improvement.
Stakeholder Communication: Foster effective communication with all stakeholders, to ensure alignment and collaborative problem-solving.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with the globally distributed team to run operations effectively, ensuring seamless coordination and execution of tasks.
Team Coaching: Mentor and coach team members to enhance their skills and performance, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Data Management: Manage large data movements, effectively handling petabytes of data while ensuring data integrity and security.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 6 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 4 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience; or 10 years' experience in a related field
- Proven experience in a lead or supervisory role in data operations, monitoring, or a similar field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Experience with monitoring systems, data pipelines, and large-scale data management.
- Proficiency in AWS cloud, GCP, DBT, PowerCenter, Snowflake, and big data platforms.
- Strong understanding of operational process documentation and review.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a focus on team development and coaching.
- Experience working with globally distributed teams, including onshore, nearshore, and offshore vendors.
USD 117,300.00 - 195,500.00 per year
Compensation:
Compensation includes a base salary of $117,300.00 - $195,500.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.
