The Data Engineering team helps solve our customers' toughest challenges; making flights safer, power cheaper, and oil & gas production safer for people and the environment by leveraging data and analytics. The Data Engineer will work with the team to create state-of-the-art data and analytics driven solutions, working across Baker Hughes to drive business analytics to a new level of predictive analytics while leveraging big data tools and technologies.

As a Staff Data Engineer, you will be part of a data engineering or cross-disciplinary team on commercially-facing development projects, typically involving large, complex data sets. These teams typically include statisticians, computer scientists, software developers, engineers, product managers, and end users, working in concert with partners in Baker Hughes business units. Potential application areas include remote monitoring and diagnostics across infrastructure and industrial sectors, financial portfolio risk assessment, and operations optimization.
As a Staff Data Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Leading cross-disciplinary teams on solving business problems using BI and Analytics, typically involving large data sets
- Delivering large-sized data engineering stories and tasks with automated MDM and data quality capabilities.
- Helping define data engineering standards and processes that ensure data loaded into our systems is of the highest quality
- Developing and executing maintainable scripts that validate, clean, and dedupe data from back end enterprise systems
- Developing and enhancing automated data transformation tools and integrating them into continuous-integration frameworks
- Applying agile principles and methodologies to all work
- Working with fellow team members to create, interpret, data models and diagnose bugs/defects, document results and formulate solutions
- Identifying downstream implications of data loads/migration (e.g., data quality, regulatory, etc).
- Demonstrating skills in collaborating with different stakeholders, influencing decisions and an ability to take strategic view
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with minimum 6 years of experience
- Have an experience in leading development of D&A products, from Requirement Gathering State to Driving User Adoption
- Have minimum of 7-8 years of professional experience with a minimum of 3-4 years in a D&A role with a Global organization
- Have hands on experience working with database technologies, including ETL tools including Databricks Workflows using Pyspark / Python, and an ability to learn new technologies.
- Have strong proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries and working with databases.
- Have good knowledge of ITIL process and experience in development of technical products.
- Have passionate about driving change and influence across enterprise.
- Have demonstrated ability to execute in a highly matrixed environment.
- Have strong ability to communicate technical aspects regarding program challenges, progress or results in forms that resonate with the business collaborators.
- Have to inform engineering and other stakeholders of key customer issues, identifies potential problems, or conflicts and resolves them when necessary.
- Have to produce functional area information in sufficient detail for cross-functional teams to utilize, using presentation and storytelling concepts.
