Employees within a 90-minute radius of our Oak Brook, IL headquarters are required to adhere to the company in-office work guidelines of 4 days per month minimum from 10 am to 2 pm (1 of the 4 days must be a Monday or Friday).

Job Summary & Responsibilities
We are seeking a talented Data Engineer to join our growing team. This role is responsible for collaborating with an experienced team of engineers and business stakeholders to create scalable data platform solutions to support both our internal business analytics and the customer facing reporting functionality of our application. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing scalable data infrastructure and leading initiatives across the data platform. You'll mentor other engineers, drive data architecture decisions, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable data solutions. Additionally, we value individuals who are team players, possess a keen eye for detail, and prioritize outcomes over outputs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of scalable batch and streaming data pipelines.
  • Design and implement CDC strategies and robust ETL workflows.
  • Work with software engineers to create data products in a data mesh environment.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries for internal analytics and reporting.
  • Collaborate with software engineers and business stakeholders to define data contracts and deliver data products in a data mesh environment.
  • Manage and evolve our data infrastructure using Terraform and GCP best practices.
  • Document data flows, Entity-Relationship Diagrams, and contribute to our data catalog.
  • Lead efforts around data modeling, data quality, and data governance
  • Ensuring data platform solutions meet data privacy and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in peer-reviews of solution designs and code reviews.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team standards and best practices.


Requirements:

  • Deep expertise in SQL, Python, experience with TypeScript or Node.js is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of cloud data warehousing concepts (preferably in Google Cloud).
  • Experience implementing ETL pipelines, and orchestration tools.
  • Experience in data mesh, data lake architecture, and data product ownership
  • Experience with data governance concepts.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Experience with data privacy and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and mentoring others.
  • Nice to have: experience with MLOps and ML pipeline support.


Preferred Qualifications
Education & Experience:

  • 7-10 years of experience in data engineering roles
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience


Compensation & Benefits
$125,000-$150,000 per year
