A Brief Overview
Under the general direction of the CT&BE Director, Assistant Director or Clinical Engineer Manager(s) the Lead Biomedical Equipment Technician (LBMET) provides patient care technical support for a wide variety of medical devices including multi-media technology in use at an academic medical center. The LBMET is responsible for completing all given assignments within the parameters of the Clinical Technology & Biomedical Engineering Medical Equipment Management Plan.

What you will do
- Complies with Department Technician Orientation & Training Competency Program and performs an active role in continuous Education and Training of the BMET staff.
- Demonstrates acceptance of patients, families, visitors, and co-workers regardless of race, gender, disease process, life-style, religious or cultural beliefs, or treatment.
- Documents all scheduled and unscheduled work performed in the CT&BE inventory and maintenance database.
- Follows all SHC/LPCH safety guidelines and infection control policies and procedures for self, patients, visitors, and employees.
- Handles hospital and department computer workstations, software packages, websites, and files, with appropriate care and respects all copyrighted material.
- Handles specific logistical activities within the department, i.e. staff scheduling matrix, ongoing regulatory compliance readiness, and the staff Technician Orientation & Training Competency Program.
- Maintains confidentiality with regard to hospital business and HIPAA compliance.
- Periodically provides weekend, holiday, and off-shift coverage, including call-back emergency coverage. May be required to service equipment on any shift if delays would adversely affect patient care.
- Primary responsibility is to provide technical leadership in handling specific logistical activities in defining support areas. The Lead BMET functions as a positive resource to other staff within a workgroup.
- Provides support of specialized equipment or advanced technology needs, e.g. Dialysis, Operating Room Services, Radiology, Pharmacy, or multi-media broadcasts.
- Provides technical bedside support for routine and STAT/emergency trouble calls while consistently demonstrating the ability to assess priorities.
- Understands and adheres to the Hospital's Conflict of Interest policy.
Education Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university
- Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Experience Qualifications
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience to include project management experience successfully working directly with clinical equipment users and managers

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $64.15 - $72.25 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
