Large Project Manager - VIM Capital Program
JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY – A Large Project Manager for a Program of Capital Projects oversees and manages a collection of interconnected capital projects, typically large-scale infrastructure and construction initiatives. This role involves strategic planning, resource management, risk management, and ensuring that all projects within the program meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards. The Large Project Manager for a Program of Capital Projects is responsible for overseeing and coordinating a series of related capital projects. This role ensures that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards while meeting the strategic objectives of the organization. The position involves managing resources, schedules, budgets, and stakeholder relationships across multiple projects and plant locations within a large, complex capital program.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE LARGE PROJECT MANAGER - VIM CAPITAL PROGRAM
- Develop and manage the overall program plan for the portfolio of capital projects.
- Set clear objectives, timelines, and milestones for each project within the program.
- Ensure alignment of all projects with the organization’s goals and priorities.
- Monitor and track overall program progress, making adjustments as necessary.
- Lead and manage project managers, engineers, contractors, and other project team members across various projects within the program.
- Foster effective communication between all stakeholders, including senior management, clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Resolve conflicts and provide direction to ensure smooth program execution.
- Oversee the development and management of the program budget, ensuring costs are controlled and managed across all projects.
- Monitor financial performance and take corrective actions when necessary to avoid budget overruns.
- Provide monthly projects’ status, financial reporting and forecasts to senior management.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks across the program and its individual projects.
- Develop and implement risk management plans to address potential obstacles.
- Ensure that project risk mitigation strategies are in place and followed.
- Ensure that each project within the program adheres to its schedule and deadlines.
- Address delays, coordinate schedules between projects, and adjust timelines when necessary to keep the overall program on track.

- Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including internal clients, vendors, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Provide monthly program updates to stakeholders and senior management, ensuring transparency and alignment.

- Ensure that all projects comply with local regulations, environmental standards, and safety protocols.
- Monitor the quality of work being delivered across all projects and ensure that deliverables meet the required specifications.
- Prepare and present monthly progress reports, including financial status, timelines, risk mitigation, and achievements.
- Ensure proper documentation of all projects for compliance, audit, and historical reference.
- Oversee the handover of completed projects, ensuring that all post-construction processes are executed smoothly.
- Conduct post-project evaluations to assess performance, gather lessons learned, and recommend improvements for future projects.
- Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.
REQUIRED FOR THE LARGE PROJECT MANAGER - VIM CAPITAL PROGRAM
- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in engineering or construction management preferred.
- 10 years of experience in managing large capital projects and/or programs, with at least 5 years in a program management role.
- Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP), Program Management Professional (PgMP), or equivalent is highly preferred.
- Proven experience managing cross-functional teams and multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong background in budget management, contract negotiation, and risk management.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar tools).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, budgets, and timelines.
- In-depth knowledge of construction, engineering, or infrastructure project methodologies.
- Ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions quickly.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Office-based with site visits to project locations.
- Travel is required.
- Flexibility in hours due to the project demands.
