We do that through sophisticated EPOS payments integrations, fast transactions, hospitality bookings, and a strong consumer restaurant app.
The Role:
Shape the Future of Payments in Italy with Dojo!
As we continue our rapid expansion across Europe, 2025 marks a pivotal year for Dojo in Italy. We're on a mission to revolutionise the merchant experience, ensuring seamless onboarding and secure transactions. To support this growth, we're looking for an exceptional KYC Analyst to join our dynamic team in Milan—our second hire in this critical role.
This is your opportunity to be at the forefront of our Italian market expansion, working alongside our established UK, Ireland and Spain Risk teams while growing the dedicated underwriting function tailored to Italy. You'll play a key role in protecting Dojo from fraud, financial crime, and credit risks, all while ensuring a smooth and frictionless journey for our merchants.
If you're a proactive decision-maker with expertise in financial and non-financial risk analysis and you're eager to make a tangible impact in a fast-growing fintech, this role is for you. Join us and be part of a team that’s shaping the future of payments in Italy!
What You Will Do:
- Application Reviews: Assess new merchant applications and requests for additional services, balancing risk management with business growth, while meeting agreed SLAs.
- Comprehensive Risk Assessments: Evaluate potential Italian clients by analysing financial statements, reviewing KYC/KYB documentation and identifying financial crime risks, ensuring compliance with local and international regulations.
- Credit Risk Evaluation: Analyse the creditworthiness and financial strength of applicants by assessing financial accounts, cash flows, payment history, and industry trends to assess potential exposure and mitigate credit risk.
- Regulatory Compliance: Perform KYC/KYB verification, ensuring adherence to Italian and EU financial regulations, including ownership verification, identity checks, and compliance screenings.
- Acquiring Risk Management: Understand and mitigate risks associated with payment processing, tailoring assessments to diverse industries and business models.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with commercial teams and merchants to optimise onboarding, address risk concerns, provide commercial training and advocate for robust underwriting practices.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Compliance, Financial Crime, and Legal teams to manage high-risk applications, review contracts, and implement necessary security measures.
- Process & Policy Development: Contribute to refining underwriting policies and procedures, identifying areas for enhancement, and ensuring best-in-class risk management.
- Market Intelligence: Stay ahead of evolving industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks that impact merchant onboarding and credit evaluation in Italy.
What You Will Bring:
- Relevant Experience: Proven background in underwriting, credit risk, or financial analysis within a financial institution, ideally in the Italian payments or banking sector.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of credit, fraud, and AML risks in the payments industry, including card scheme rules, chargebacks, and regulatory frameworks.
- Analytical & Decision-Making Skills: Ability to assess complex financial data, identify risks, and make confident, informed underwriting decisions.
- Strong Communication: Capable of clearly articulating underwriting decisions to both internal stakeholders and external clients in a professional and effective manner.
- Customer-Centric Approach: A balanced perspective on risk management and business enablement, ensuring smooth onboarding while safeguarding Dojo’s interests.
- Collaborative Mindset: A proactive team player who thrives in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Continuous Learning: Motivation to grow and develop your skills with a passion for innovation and driving change within the payments industry.
- Languages: Business fluency in Italian and English is essential.
Dojo home and away
We believe our best work happens when we collaborate in-person. These “together days” foster communication, drive innovation and spark our brightest ideas.
That's why we have an office-first culture. This means working from the office 4+ days per week.
With offices across Europe, we know a thing or two about staying dynamic. Need deep focus? Head to a quiet zone. Big ideas? Collaboration spaces have you covered. Just here for a catch-up? Our social hubs make it easy. Do work that counts, in spaces made for you.
Question: what’s curious, relentless, and customer obsessed?
If you’re keen to know the answer, you’re a third of the way to meeting our Dojo values.
If the following speak to you, let’s talk:
- You’re curious. You have a real desire to learn and create.
- You’re relentless. You keep going even when it’s easier not to.
- You’re customer-obsessed. You know how important customers are to what you do.

In that time, we’ve also introduced Dojo Virtual Queues & Bookings and the Dojo restaurant finder app, formerly known as WalkUp and loved by 1,000 restaurants and 750,000 diners. Today, we work towards our mission to empower businesses to thrive in the Experience Economy by creating the tools and technology that turn transactions into meaningful relationships. For our business customers, that means fast funding, the fastest payments, smart integrations, and efficient virtual queues & bookings - all with instant insight across the board.
