THE ROLE
In this role, you are responsible for supporting the Finance team’s royalty reviews, reporting and reconciling for DSPs and Members of The MLC. You are a self-starter with strong project management skills and a keen attention to detail. You love to solve problems, big and small, you thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, and you approach every challenge head-on. As an integral member of the Finance Team, you will have the unique opportunity to be part of an organization that is changing the game in the music industry, building this organization from the ground up.
QUALIFICATIONS
- One-year related experience (copyright or royalty work preferred)
- System savvy and expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel (i.e., V-Lookup, If-Then statements, Pivot Tables, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving ability that includes the ability to gather, organize and evaluate large data sets; excellent attention to detail and organization skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high productivity environment with tight deadlines
- Ability to multi-task at a high level
- Resourceful in conducting thorough research for sound conclusions
- Willingness to work overtime, if necessary, to meet deadlines
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
YOU WILL DRIVE FORWARD KEY ROYALTY FINANCE PROCESSES AND REPORTING BY:
- Participating in the MLC royalty cycle through analysis of data at critical points in the process starting with ingestion of the data through to issuance of statements and payments to our Members
- Analyzing large volumes of data in order to discover, evaluate and report anomalies
- Conduct on-line research
- Reviewing held payee catalogs
- Submitting match breaks/merges
- Applying debit/credit adjustments from monthly reviews
- Checking works matched to Members to validate anomalies
- Reviewing Member registrations for reasonableness
YOU WILL SUPPORT CRITICAL ROYALTY FINANCE PROCESSES AND REPORTING BY:
- Reviewing Member statements for accuracy
- Working closely with Rights Management/Publisher Relations to provide results of the data analysis
- Documenting the review process and continually looking for ways to improve and make it more efficient
- Providing details to finance and accounting to support changes to Member accounts
- Identifying and escalating situations requiring additional review for resolution
- Accepting other duties as assigned
