Get to Know the Opportunity:
Voya is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Application Support Lead with expertise in Java and .Net to join our dynamic team. As an Application Support Lead you will be responsible for ensuring proper coordination of software application design, development, testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, and support to ensure smooth, stable and timely implementation of work requests and issue resolution. You will work closely with our experienced development team, contributing to the overall success of our solutions. The Application Support Lead supports the Application Maintenance Consultant, IT Manager and Director and is accountable for the tactical Application Maintenance delivery for the Digital Workplace portfolio. Application Maintenance delivery includes Technical Risk Management, Incident, Problem & Change Management oversight and performance management, Process Management and Vendor Management. Guides Application Systems solutions design through the life cycle of a set of work. Partners with teams supporting Application Development and Application Maintenance such as Quality Assurance, Release Management and Shared Services in order to maintain a stable portfolio and support model.
What you’ll Contribute:
- Manage day to day production support delivery of a Java application maintenance team.
- Escalate delivery issues to the Application Support Consultant and IT Manager on daily team huddle
- Govern Incident Management and root cause analysis, technical issues and problem resolution
- Support continuous improvement by assessing application risks and identify areas for modification and improvement.
- Maintain clear and organized documentation of software code, specifications, application handbooks, knowledge articles and user manuals.
- Ensures system documentation is up to standard and conduct periodic reviews to ensure Voya technical standards are met
- Triage, coordinate and manage small minor enhancement projects
- Identify application risks, knowledge gaps and need for upskilling and cross training resources.
- Provide technical guidance, delegate work to team members, ensure timely delivery and SLA compliance
- Work closely with offshore team located in India across different time zone.
Minimum Knowledge and Experience:
- Over 6 Years of experience in building/maintaining high-performing, scalable, enterprise-grade applications.
- Hands on experience in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, Java script framework (Node, Angular, Handlebar etc), MySQL, HTML, Oracle DB, Linux, Windows, Cloud and CSS.
- Technical knowledge in the following areas will be of additional advantage:
- Cloud Technologies – Open shift container platform/ Kubernetes, AWS, Docker, Apigee gateway
- App and Web Servers – JBoss, Tomcat, WebSphere, WebLogic, IIS
- Web Technologies – Java, JSP, Servlet, Java API, HTML, Java script, Maven, C#, .NET, ASP .NET Web services
- Framework – Struts, Spring MVC, EJB, CCF
- DevOps technologies – GitHub, Jenkins, XLD, SonarCube, Artifactory
- Security tool - Snyk
- Monitoring tool – Dynatrace, Grafana, Foglight
- Database – Oracle, SQL server, DB2 and Sybase, SSIS
- Other Tools – HP ALM, IBM ClearCase & ClearQuest, Clarity, Microsoft Office, ServiceNow, SharePoint
- Experience in production support, production incident trouble shooting and clear understanding of incident management, problem management, change management procedures and concepts
- Good understanding of web-based applications, client server architecture, cloud computing concepts and relational database concepts.
- Ability to partner, collaborate and lead a team of 10 or more developers.
- Knowledge of front-end web development technologies and frameworks.
- Strong experience in identifying and implementing proper software design patterns based on business requirement
- Deployment and configuration management skill will be of additional advantage.
- Should be flexible to work occasional off hours if needed.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with creating and managing SharePoint sites, PowerPoint slides, and Excel macros/formula
- Partners with product and service vendors to integrate successfully into the environment as well as partnering to solve complex vendor integration issues that may arise.
- Provides expert level knowledge during critical P1, P2 incidents to effectuate minimal outage time.
- Ability to develop robust Disaster Recovery plans and participate/lead teams through DR testing resulting is successful outcomes.
- Engages in critical vulnerability and security related matters and has the knowledge and ability to influence quick resolution to mitigate organizational risk.
Minimum Knowledge and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering or a directly related field, master’s degree preferred.
- Knowledge of .NET Framework, C#, ASP .NET would be of additional advantage

Compensation Pay Disclosure:
Voya is committed to pay that’s fair and equitable, which means comparable pay for comparable roles and responsibilities.
The below annual base salary range reflects the expected hiring range(s) for this position in the location(s) listed. In addition to base salary, Voya offers incentive opportunities (i.e., annual cash incentives, sales incentives, and/or long-term incentives) based on the role to reward the achievement of annual performance objectives. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Voya Financial is willing to pay at the time of this posting.
Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted salary range based upon the candidate’s geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
$103,810 - $129,760 USD
