Role and Responsibilities
The team enhances and manages a small - but growing - number of back-end Java applications that assist in the flow of SMS messages. Each application must be highly performant, resilient and reliable, allowing support staff to easily see and understand its exact status at any time. Here you will code, test and deploy major software changes with zero down-time, working alongside other team members and the Technical Product Owner.
As our new Java Backend Developer, you will:
- Develop, test and support new and existing applications on top of an established framework
- Work with an agile, cross-functional team taking responsibility for high-quality deliverables
- Be self-motivated to independently drive through your accepted tasks
- Collaborate with team members and the product owner to improve and enhance functionality of the code base
- Work with with DevOps, support and operational teams as well as external suppliers in order to commission applications

In order to contribute to this role you must have:
In-depth knowledge on core Java and SpringBoot to provide back-end services
Experience of using Junit test automation tools
Facility with Eclipse, IntelliJ or similar Java IDE
Fluency in written and spoken English
You’ll stand out from the crowd if you have practical experience of:
Enterprise applications/tools such as Redis, Kubernetes and Kafka
Monitoring tools such as Spring metrics, Prometheus and Grafana
Knowledge of SMS or other telecommunications protocols
Experience of databases using SQL
Experience with various HTTP based communication protocols would be an advantage
