IT OT Infrastructure Engineer

Our Information (IT) and Automation Technology (OT) team is key in producing and delivering medicine to patients. The organization is currently undergoing a transformation towards digitalization, advancing fundamental elements to meet future needs, such as using new technologies.

The IT OT Infrastructure Engineer is a key role in a highly automated pharmaceutical drug substance and drug product manufacturing facility. The site employs highly integrated computer control systems to handle plant operations and manufacturing data. This role will report to the Controls and Infrastructure Lead.

The actual title will be IT OT Infrastructure Engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own “OT Infrastructure” for Manufacturing System Platforms including Syncade MES, DeltaV Distributed Control System, PLC's, and Lab Data Systems (Smartline Data Cockpit). 

• Provide support for Global Cyber Security Initiatives.

• Be a driver for reliability and continuous improvement of new and existing Infrastructure supporting manufacturing.

• Collaborate with IT Engineers, Architects and Automation Engineers. 

• Provide support for the evaluation, installation, and maintenance of Manufacturing Infrastructure including installation and upgrade of control systems hardware, software, control networks, user administration, database administration, security, system monitoring, backup and recovery of Microsoft Windows Server Operating Systems and SQL Databases.

• Support commissioning and startup activity of new process control systems and manufacturing systems (Syncade, DeltaV, PLC’s, OSI PI historian, etc.).

• Execute control system virtualization administration, user administration, system monitoring, capacity planning, design, installation, configuration, and upgrade of platform.

• Work to identify opportunities to create additional value and improve business processes and patient outcomes, maximize the benefits of standardization of technologies and leverage across sites. 

• In collaboration with IT Business Partners, monitor and improve stakeholder and user experience and ensure strong support of Product Transfers and Make/Assess/Release.

• May lead cross-functional projects or teams of limited scope and drive project/process improvements.

Who You Are

• Bachelor in Engineering, Computer Science, or in a related discipline.

• 0 - 2 years systems engineering experience involved in the design, implementation, and/or support of automation systems, preferably in a regulated industry.

• Able to accommodate 24X7 support, participate in an on-call environment to meet business continuity requirements, including weekends and holidays as required.

• Experience with Operating Systems, Virtualization, LAN/WAN, Firewalls, SQL Servers client-server and terminal virtualization as a System Administrator is a plus.

• Experience with industrial networking, monitoring and support is a plus.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, California is $92,600 - $172,000.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
