IT Specialist

Xilis, Inc. is an innovation-driven biotech company developing its proprietary MicroOrganoSphere (“MOS”) Technology for functional precision oncology. Xilis’ MOS Technology enables rapid and scalable generation of patient tumor models that retain patient-specific tumor biology and tumor microenvironment, representing one of the most translationally-relevant ex vivo technologies for precision oncology drug discovery and development. Located in Research Triangle Park, Durham, NC, Xilis is building a functional precision medicine platform that incorporates scaled multi-modal profiling of therapeutic activity and AI/ML-enabled analytics to catalyze functional precision medicine drug discovery, development and diagnostics. Collectively, Xilis aims to harness its MOS Platform to enable development of the most effective therapeutics and guide them to the right patients at the right time.

Main Objectives

• Support and maintain the company’s IT infrastructure and services to ensure a seamless technology experience for all employees.
• Assist with networking and server management tasks, collaborating with consultants and senior team members to learn and grow.
• Maintain a helpdesk to provide hands-on IT support for end-users and manage onboarding/offboarding processes, including IT equipment provisioning and inventory tracking.
• Monitor and maintain the health of IT systems, ensuring security and reliability.

Responsibilites

• Perform network troubleshooting to ensure connectivity and resolve common issues
• Perform server management tasks, including patching and maintenance
• Provide timely support for end-user issues through the helpdesk, including hardware, software, and connectivity problems
• Support employee onboarding/offboarding, including device and application provisioning
• Manage devices using MDM solutions such as Kanji to ensure compliance and security
• Monitor and maintain backups for servers and important lab computers
• Maintain IT hardware inventory, including laptops and end-user equipment
• Monitor and address alerts to ensure the health and performance of IT systems and infrastructure
• Collaborate with external consultants and senior team members to maintain and improve IT systems, including networking and infrastructure, while growing skills and taking advantage of growth opportunities

Requirements

• 2-3 years of professional IT experience, with exposure to diverse IT responsibilities
• Core knowledge of networking and troubleshooting common connectivity issues
• Experience with end-user support and ticket management
• Familiarity with device management tools (e.g., Kanji, Intune) and laptop provisioning
• Understanding of backup processes and typical Windows Server and Linux maintenance tasks
• Strong problem-solving skills, a willingness to learn, and significant growth potential
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to IT monitoring tools and practices
• Basic scripting or automation skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) to streamline IT tasks
• Interest in taking advantage of significant opportunities to expand IT skills and contribute to shaping IT infrastructure while growing into the role
