Sr.IT Security Specialist

OVERVIEW

The Senior IT Security Specialist will gain the skills necessary to identify client security breaches and act as a security advocate for several well-established clients. You will leverage various internal platforms and use your indepth understanding of exploits and vulnerabilities to provide network and data security for our clients. To best perform this role, you will be required to stay up to date with current vulnerabilities, attacks, and countermeasures, along with staying current with all

security related news and developments. 

The Senior IT Security Specialist will also help to ensure the organization is properly prepared for audit activities by clients and other third-party auditors. This includes artifact collection as well as regular audits of the company environment and all resources as required.

KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide day-to-day network support, monitoring system performance and perform tuning as required.
• Provide support for day-to-day network and security alerts, and associated investigations as required.
• Act as an escalation point for all security incidents and assist with 24x7 Cyber Security Incident Response through a cyber security managed services partner.
• Mentor and couch junior analysts.
• Review configurations, logs, and updates to ensure software and infrastructure are properly patched and protected on a regular basis.
• Assist with regular vulnerability scans and penetration testing (Internal & External).
• Manage Phishing Simulations and provide monthly reports to the Head of IT/Security.
• Assist with virtual and in-person end-user cyber security awareness training.
• Attend regular vendor training and informational sessions to keep knowledge and experience current.

CANDIDATE’S PROFILE

Education/Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of working experience/education.
• Industry-recognized certifications for networking and security, e.g. Network+, Security+, CISSP, etc.

Professional Skills:

• Excellent knowledge of English
• 5+ years or more of IT Security Experience
• Strong Presentation/Public Speaking skills
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
• Excellent decision-making, problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanor.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Technical Skills:

• Solid understanding of network protocols like TCP/IP & UDP and underlying protocols.
• Solid understanding of SIEMs, UBA/UEBA, EDR and other cyber security solutions.
• Solid experience in remediating or mitigation malware and/or cyber attacks.
• Solid experience with offensive security and threat hunting.
• Solid understanding of security better practices and procedures.
• Solid understanding of security tools to monitor & secure systems and network resources.
• Experience working Microsoft Office 365, including SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, etc.
