Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a IT Operations Intern at UL Research Institutes and UL Standards & Engagement, based in our Evanston, IL office.

As an IT Operations Intern, you will gain hands-on experience and contribute to the operational success of our IT systems and infrastructure. This role is based in our headquarters in Evanston office and is a great opportunity for someone interested in pursuing a career in IT operations.

As the IT Operations Intern, you will play a key role in the rapid growth of UL as you:

• Assists the IT operations team in monitoring and maintaining the company's network, servers, and other infrastructure components.

• Works with the IT operations team during day-to-day end user support.

• Helps troubleshoot and resolve technical issues reported by end-users, escalating complex problems to senior team members when necessary.

• Performs routine maintenance tasks, such as software updates, hardware upgrades, and system backups.

• Participates in the creation and maintenance of documentation, including system configurations, user guides, and standard operating procedures.

• Assists in managing user accounts, permissions, and access levels for various IT systems and applications.

• Collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify areas for process improvement and propose innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency.

• Stays up to date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in IT operations.

• Other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.

• Basic knowledge of networking principles, computer hardware, and operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux).

• Available to work full-time during the internship period.
