JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is for a Data Systems Analyst with strong skills in SQL development. The person will also provide technical support and would be expected to have the skills and experience needed to provide 3rd tier support. This is a position for an individual with a natural drive for success in a demanding environment. Interested candidates should be professional, self-motivated, and interested in working in a fast-paced environment as part of a diverse team of fellow application and technology experts.
The position will support Infinity, Corporate View and related applications.
This is a hybrid role.

  • Analyzes system requirements, preparing of specifications, designing, coding, testing, debugging and documenting.
  • Implements complex requirement for multiple platforms, operating systems, and applications.
  • Resolves problems by devising or modifying procedures.
  • Considers equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results when developing resolutions.
  • Supports the identification of system requirements by interviewing users, interviewing and selecting vendors (if applicable), analyzing applications, evaluating existing and proposed systems, and recommending solutions.
  • Independently analyzes and isolates application issues and performs problem resolution.
  • Monitors progress of software-based projects by tracking activity, resolving problems, publishing progress reports, and recommending actions.
  • Improves systems performance by investigating problems, developing specifications, identifying trends in technology, and recommending solutions.
  • Assists with formulating and defining specifications for software programming applications and modifies existing applications.
  • Reads and follows the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
  • Performs other duties as directed.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain database stored procedures, triggers and views.
  • Analyze and define logical and physical database structure based on project requirements.
  • Work directly with other IS team members and user community to define critical business requirements.
  • Maintain and enforce standards, security procedures, and controls for access to ensure database system integrity.
  • Define and participate in conceptual database design and specifications.
  • Perform database administration activities including but not limited to installation, configuration, backup and maintenance.
  • Perform database optimization, troubleshooting and tuning activities in a development/production environment.
  • Ensure the reliability, serviceability, and maintainability of database systems with demonstrable accuracy and security.
  • Develop test plans and test data for database systems.

QUALIFICATIONS
What makes you a great fit?

  • Required: University degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, plus generally four years of directly-related experience.
  • Required: Strong working technical knowledge and/or IT development experience.
  • Required: Strong working knowledge in Enterprise application or specific program language requirements of IT work.
  • Required: Detailed knowledge and understanding of SQL development and administration.
  • Required: Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries/stored procedures.
  • Highly preferred: 4-8 years experience in designing and implementing relational databases.
  • Highly preferred: Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • Highly preferred: Knowledge of software development life-cycle.
  • Highly preferred: Ability to work independently with minimal guidance; and comfortable interacting with individuals of both technical and non-technical backgrounds.


What makes you stand out?

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis, information systems management, software engineering, statistics, mathematics or related discipline; or professional certification and in-depth knowledge of database technology and DBA tools.
  • Recent design and development experience with Microsoft SQL Server, MySql or related relational database technology (i.e. Oracle, DB2, PostGres SQL, MariaDB, Informix, Ingres).
  • Experience with PowerShell/Batch files is a plus.
  • Experience with QlikView, Tableau or Power BI software solutions is a plus.
  • Experience with utilization of XML and JSON in SQL Server environments.
  • Reporting experience including statistical analysis, data visualization, and experience in support systems desirable but not a requirement.
