The Role
The Issuing and Deposits Oversights Manager will use specialized knowledge of bank regulations, examination procedures, bank requirements, etc. to lead Issuing's cooperative efforts with bank oversight teams and internal Compliance and Legal teams. Build processes to provide banks with required documentation and reporting in advance of their requests - or at least be ready to respond immediately when requested. Creates and maintains risk assessments - assigning sections to subject matter experts as needed. Understands flows of information between all parties
The role will sit in our Issuing team and report to the Head of Issuing Strategy, Partnership & Operations. This team is responsible for delivering and maintaining a world-class card issuing service and is responsible for innovating with product teams along with establishing strategic direction for cards and actively managing the external ecosystem partners including networks, banks and vendors.
This role requires a strategic thinker with a keen eye for detail and a passion for operational excellence. You can effortlessly connect the dots between how products are built, and how products are used and have the ability to collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure seamless product delivery.
You will:
- Draft partner exam management and 1st line compliance policies and procedures. Build workflows, documents, and internal processes and establish appropriate SLAs.
- Partner to ensure timely responses to all partner exam requests. Conduct thorough research to validate responses and/or documentation provided is accurate and reflective of the request.
- Ensure continuous improvement through the identification and implementation of industry best practices. Acquires appropriate level of information to stay current on regulatory changes.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to ensure corrective action is completed timely and that the action was effective in remedying the risk to an acceptable level. Complete timely Issue input, tracking, follow-up, and validation.
- Acts as the subject matter expert in rules, regulations, and supervisory guidance as it relates to the Issuing and Deposits Partnerships.
- Responds to elevated questions from the internal and external stakeholders providing direction and guidance on issues.
- Keeps abreast of regulatory changes and industry trends. Determines impact, if any, on company operations, processes, and procedures, and recommends changes.
- Assesses risks associated with current and proposed processes against business objectives and ensure alignment with the partner's risk appetite and risk management framework.
- Develop and maintain strategic and effective working relationships with other business units and external partners, including but not limited to Compliance Partners, Product, Legal, and Bank Partners..
You have:
- 12+ years of Financial Services, Fintech, and Payments compliance roles. Bonus points if you have experience on both the Bank and Fintech sides of the ecosystem
- Self-starter who leans in and can multitask in fast-paced and often ambiguous environments
- Knowledge of the payments ecosystem, key players and interrelationships
- Critical thinking abilities for proactively identifying issues and actions required. Gather and integrate information from a variety of sources to make sound decisions. Collects and analyzes data to assess accuracy, validity, and integrity. Analyzes information and effectively integrates and interprets results. Make timely decisions and take action to address an issue.
- Demonstrates thorough understanding of how industry standards, federal, state, and local laws and regulations impact the ecosystem. Familiarity with governing bodies Office of Comptroller of Currency and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) examination standards and general regulatory issuances, Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices (UDAAP).
- Able to identify, research and provide solutions to situations with potential partner impact.
- Demonstrate sound judgment and apply logical and critical thought processes when developing and recommending solutions.
- Ability to understand issues or concerns, listen to alternative viewpoints, ask follow-up questions, and efficiently communicate to team members and internal partners. Garners buy in from partners on issues or concerns.
- Able to efficiently manage multiple competing priorities at once. Able to deliver work on time with high quality consistently.
- Ability to proactively solve problems and make sound decisions. Able to remove barriers to solve problems with minimal assistance. Seeks assistance when uncertain and learns from mistakes.
- Able to embrace change to drive a continuous improvement culture by demonstrating commitment to organizational change efforts and personally proposing new approaches and methods to accomplishing work.
