In this role, you will:

Provide administrative support services to assist patent attorneys and patent paralegals in filing patent applications and providing timely responses to the USPTO and similar foreign entities with respect to pending patent applications and global patent portfolio management.

  • Assist in the filing and prosecution of patent applications, including preparing and filing appropriate responses and documentation with the USPTO in a timely manner, which at times may require contacting the USPTO to confirm specific forms or responses required to meet their needs and electronic system trouble shooting.
  • Partnering with and instructing various third-party service providers to support global patent portfolio management.
  • Ensuring electronic patent records are current and accurate.
  • Undertake various other projects and activities as may be assigned from time to time by the Chief Counsel or other attorneys and paralegals, to assist the Legal Department in accomplishing its objectives.
  • Be team oriented and communicate fully with customers, as needed, to meet individual project objectives; maintain a continuous improvement and growth mindset to always improve services and value delivery.
  • Contribute to an environment in which all team members are respected regardless of their individual differences and are motivated to improve both their individual and team contributions to achieve desired business results.
  • Respond directly to correspondence or inquiries not requiring the legal analysis of an attorney or paralegal.

Required Qualifications:

  • A high school education or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of relevant administrative (IP docket management, database experience)
  • Anaqua, Outlook, USPTO site, USPTO forms, pdf editor, and Word software proficiency
  • Ability to understand the activities, products, services and personnel of the business sectors and groups supported, as well as a basic knowledge of the activities, products and personnel of other sectors and groups and of the Corporation’s domestic and international organization.
  • The incumbent should have sound judgment, good communication, attention to detail, organizational and analytical skills, and sufficient diplomacy and tact to deal effectively with all customers and professional relationships.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Legal administrative experience (familiarity with USPTO – Patent Center and USPTO Forms)
  • Preparing and filing Information Disclosure Statements for US patent applications.
  • Anaqua software implementation and management experience
  • Lean Six-Sigma or other process optimization experience
  • Project Management certification (e.g., PMI)

Salary Range: $80,000 - $130,000 USD

At Kimberly-Clark, pay is just one aspect of our total rewards package, which also includes a variety of benefits and opportunities to achieve, thrive and grow. Along with base pay, this position offers eligibility for a target bonus and a comprehensive benefits suite, including our 401(k) and Profit-Sharing plan. The anticipated base pay range for this role is provided above for a fully qualified hire. Actual pay will depend on several factors, such as location, role, skills, performance, and experience. Please note that the stated pay range applies to US locations only.
