The Investment Analytics, Senior Analyst is responsible for supporting industry leading OCIO investment data solutions in terms of strategic planning and operational designs. The Investment Analytics function is comprised of a specialist group of practitioners supporting complex transformation, uplifting of systems, data, processes and investment solutions underpinning our OCIO business across the Mercer Pacific Investment Team (IMT)
Key to this will be the design, delivery and leadership of data analytics solutions to enhance the management of risks and exposures across a broad range of single sector and multi-asset class investment portfolios. This role is imperative to leading organisation wide initiatives that ensure the evolving data management capability continues to evolve and is maximised in terms of model integration and investment solutions design, development and implementation.
The role will support the IMT lead as the organisation looks to establish a modernised investment analytics design and development capability aimed to ensure maximum efficiency across the complex fund structure in terms of design and delivery of investment data visualisation and analytical tools and technologies.
The Investment Analytics, Senior Analyst will report to Head of Investment Analytics and Implementation and work closely with the Investment Analytics and Solutions Architect, Technology, the Program Delivery team and the broader Pacific Portfolio Management (PM) team as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data analysis and deep dives. Conduct thorough analysis of investment data to identify patterns, trends and embedded logics. Using strong quantitative and analytical skills, the Senior Investment Analytics Manager is able to problem solve and construct data queries across a variety of data mediums / vendors / investment and related operational processes. Additionally, a solid understanding of financial markets and investment principles to interpret the data accurately and make informed recommendations is crucial.
- Strong communication and project management skills are essential to effectively engage stakeholders and deliver high-quality analytics solutions.
- Investment process workflows and technical documentation. Understanding and accurate documentation of investment processes. Including data, calculations, multi-asset fund structures and all relating reporting analytics. Strong attention to detail and organisational skills are necessary to accurately document complex workflows and ensure that they are followed consistently.
- Analytics designs and solutioning. A strong understanding of multi asset data modelling and data visualisation, working alongside data engineers to develop innovative and effective analytics solutions. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business requirements into actionable analytics designs are crucial.
- Strategic planning and communications. Responsible for developing and executing strategic plans for Investment Analytics that align with the organisation's broader business goals and investment objectives. They will be able to translate technical information into clear and concise messages that drive informed decision-making for key stakeholders. Strong presentation and storytelling skills are essential to convey the value and impact of investment analytics to senior executives.
What you need to have:
- Degree qualified in numerical field (Maths, Science, Engineering, Computer Science) preferred. A suitable post graduate qualification, such as CFA, CIMA or Masters in a relevant discipline would be desirable but not necessary
- 5+ years investment industry experience
- Experience in developing and implementing investment analytics solutions, and/or working within/alongside such teams.
- A solid understanding of financial markets, investment principles, and various asset classes is essential to interpret investment data accurately and provide meaningful insights.
- A demonstrated knowledge of investment management processes with experience within multi asset class investment programs and derivative overlay strategies highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively engaging with stakeholders to understand their investment needs and requirements.
- Proficiency in creating clear and comprehensive technical documentation that outlines investment process workflows, data collection procedures, and analysis methodologies.
- Strong knowledge and experience of development and collaboration tools such as Git, Bitbucket, JIRA, Confluence and/or other similar tools.
