About the role
We’re currently looking for a talented Internal Audit Specialist / Senior Auditor to join our Internal Audit team. The team are an ambitious function that seeks to innovate and will help you grow by recognising and leveraging your strengths and potential, supporting your personal development. Key Responsibilities
Audit Planning, Risk Assessment & Stakeholder Management:

Support the development of the audit plan by taking ownership of audit universe risk assessments, meeting stakeholders, and conducting research to propose audit ideas.

Take ownership of positive and proactive stakeholder relationships in the business and support the Audit Manager with more senior relationships.
Audit Delivery:

Work under the supervision of an Audit Manager, responsible for detailed planning, scoping, and performing audit work to support the delivery of the Audit Plan.

Ensure issues identified during audits are analyzed to determine the root cause.

Ensure audit documentation meets methodology and quality requirements.

Articulate and communicate audit findings effectively to senior business management in a clear, constructive, and accurate manner (with support from the Audit Manager on complex audits).

Demonstrate willingness to be proactive and take on responsibility during audits.
Issue Validation:

Complete issue validation to a high standard, in line with abrdn’s methodology, and in a timely manner.

Provide assurance that audit issues have been closed appropriately or, where this is not the case, identify where further work is required.
Other/Ongoing Responsibilities:

Act as a role model for Internal Audit’s culture and behaviours, including transparency and empowerment.

Support the delivery of abrdn’s strategy by focusing IA’s work on the highest risk areas.

Support our agile delivery approach by performing the scrum master role where appropriate, helping the audit to deliver on time and to the expected quality.
About the candidate
-
Educated to degree level with a relevant professional qualification or experience.
-
Chartered Accountant with post-qualified experience.
-
Experience of working in an external or internal audit team.
-
Experience in planning and delivering audits in Financial Services firms
-
A good working knowledge of risk and control disciplines and relevant regulation, particularly as they apply in Financial Services.

A track record of high-quality work that is recognised by colleagues and stakeholders as adding good value.
