Position Summary
 
Under the supervision of the Internal Audit & MAR Program Manager, the Internal Audit Specialist is responsible for evaluating and improving the effectiveness of the organization’s key operational, compliance, and financial reporting controls. This role involves preparing and conducting audits, identifying control gaps and/or potential areas of risk, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards, and preparing recommendations to address risks and improve processes. The Internal Audit Specialist collaborates with various departments to conduct the audits efficiently and effectively.
Job Description

Key Outcomes:

  • Prepares internal audit narratives and flowcharts with minimal supervision.
  • Analyzes the adequacy of the design of key operational, compliance, and financial reporting controls.
  • Obtains, reviews, and analyzes supporting documentation to assess the effectiveness of key operational and application controls for complex business systems and processes.
  • Develops audit programs and testing plans with minimal supervision.
  • Documents testing results and determine the impact of exceptions with minimal supervision.
  • Analyzes and documents issues noted and prepares recommendations to address risks and identify process improvements.
  • Presents findings and recommendations to management in exit meetings.
  • Performs follow-up on management action items.
  • Demonstrates ability to build positive and trusting business relationships with key stakeholders.

Education/Experience

  • 4+ years of experience in internal auditing, external auditing, or a related role.
  • Experience in a health plan and/or the healthcare industry is preferred.

Required License(s) and/or Certification(s):

  • CPA, CIA, CISA, or equivalent certifications are highly preferred.

Skills/Knowledge/Competencies (Behaviors):

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills; ability to manage multiple priorities effectively;
  • Skill and self-motivation to solve problems independently accompanied by willingness to work as a collaborative team member;
  • Ability to partner with and collaborate effectively with associates in different business areas;
  • Willingness to engage in continual learning and development.
